There was a recent LS3 Intake Manifold test by one of the magazines (if you believe those things) where 9 or 10 different manifolds where tested.

IIRC, the Hi-Ram didn't do so hot. It was well below OEM styled manifolds.....not equaling and passing them until 5500+ RPMs.

Would most likely not be an issue for you (at the track) if you have a high stall TC and are going to rev above 7K RPMs....but thought you might want to know if you drive your car on the street.

It's a gamble no doubt. I'll know if I'm going to invest in this combo after my next track visit. Don't want to use the intake as a bandaid for heads cam combo that fails though.

I have seen one car with 5rwhp and one with 35-40rwhp over a fast 102 and as you mentioned over 5500rpm. That is usually where my shifts drop with 6 spd.

That of course is cam dependent also.

That Hi-Ram is likely going to want a camshaft with earlier intake valve events and a bit more overlap.

Right now it's sitting at 37* overlap. I'd probably like to see 40-42* at the lobe with that intake as this is still only a 7500-7600rpm combo.

It will probably want an earlier exhaust opening event as well to help carry the power up top where that manifold shines.

I get this thing running right, we can try one of your optimized cams for that intake, and lol, whichever heads end up on the car.

Holley seems to be pushing the Sniper pretty hard, especially after all the press it received at SEMA.

In the 20 intake test, I thought that intake got hosed bad by most of the rest.
Do you know of any comparison other than the 20 intake test w/that intake?

"Runner lengths with tapered top on EFI intakes designed to increase velocity and more evenly distribute airflow to all 8 cylinders"

If it makes power, the price is right, but skeptical till I see data.

They do look similar on the outside, but just looking at the Holley intake there are subtle differences that one can tell by looking at it.

Yeah, I noticed its tapered down on top, much like the Hi-Ram. Maybe Holley has found some performance data the other guys didn't. Now, I'd love to see this one compared to the Hi-Ram.

Edelbrock always does their homework before putting a product out. Results should be interesting.

I can't wait to cam one and see how they respond to changes in valve events.

I would believe that the length of the runners will just move where peak power will be made. The shorter the runner the further up the rpm range that HP will be made. I would also think this would be at the cost of torque down low. So I guess it depends on what the owner wants his car to do and the shift points.
