Default L92 low oil pressure

Hi I have a l92 6.2 in my GMC Yukon Denali and it has low oil pressure, on idle the oil pressure is just above red tick and is in the 30-35 range in oil pressure on acceleration. The engine has 145k, any idea why I have this problem.

With that many miles it could be just worn out. Something could be clogging the screen in the pickup tube. We just tore into my son G8 GT to do the dod delete with new cam. Sent the heads off for port and polish. When we took the oil pump out the screen had a oval shape insulator that goes in between a wire connector.(Don't know how it got there, maybe previous owner). Threw a code the day before we parked it for the tear down. With that many miles on your vehicle it's going to be hard to say what is wrong with it. Good Luck.

I talked to the dealer today and they think it may be the oil pressure sending unit or screen mesh that blocks junk from accumulating on sensor.

Sounds like your motor now has more clearence than when new. You could try a good 10W40 oil and see what happens.

Yeah I think I will, the engine I belive has 5w 30 oil in it now, but I think maybe the sender or screen is bad or cloged as if my oil is as low as it says it is I should have a check engine light and warning and I don't. The sender and oil pressure light are I believed in two different sensors or circuits as a fail safe.

Default L92 low oil pressure

I have a new crate engine in my 2007 yukon denali and have the same issue. I am going to get a new high volume oil pump and have the screen changed to see if that fixes the low pressure at idle
