My thoughts are: that thing is lean, and eating itself. not sure how many more plug swaps it will take before you are having machine work, and swapping pistons

Default TR6 follow up

I realize its been said you should do a full throttle run then shut the engine down, which i have not been doing, however here is a picture of #6 for comparison (second from the back)of a new TR6. I dont yet see any speckling on the TR6 (colder) insulator at all, and a nice dark top ring. So i dont think there are signs of being lean or detonation. Looks like a win so far.
The timing on the ground strap is a bit past the curve so might be too much, but at this point i would think that would be a tuning for power.
What do you guys think of this one?

It definitely looks like the TR6's are an improvement. However NGK plugs have a cadmium coating on them that makes reading the timing mark difficult. Use some fine sandpaper and sand the outsides of the ground straps until they are a smooth even color. This will make reading the timing mark much more accurate.

Oh but he is intentionally trying to burn the engine up. Otherwise it would have a wideband literally the first thing you buy when attempting to tune/learn about tuning is a wideband. But everyone would rather see him melt the engine! 'they' talked him out of it! Im done!

Default Did you find the problem??

Curious, I’m having similar issue with Burt plugs. Car makes a frying noise at 6500 while loosing power.

As suggested in this thread, you need a wideband to tune AFR’s. Once wideband reads satisfactory, then fine tune with spark plugs. Plugs don’t lie, ever, but wideband will get it very close.

I was gonna post something similar...plugs to hot or a cylinder or cylinders are out of tune which needs what Chevelle said....

Besides the you do know this is a older thread and they solved the problem.
