Yes your seal is correct. My problem actually ended up being the bolts that hold the cover on. They were too long. I ground them all down and that fixed the problem.( same ones that came out) They were bottoming out. ????? I guess they stretch ????

In terms of orientation, yes. If you look at about 9 O'clock on your photo (or just above the stamped serial number in the rear cover) you can see that the seal has embossed on it, "This Side Out."

However, one difference I see is that your seal sits much farther in. On mine, the surface of that outer lip with the writing on it is almost flush with the metal lip which surrounds it. I never removed mine from the cover, so I don't know if it is inserted from the inside or outside, but you may want to adjust it outwards some. Then again, your cover appears to be of a different design than mine, so that may simply be part of the difference.
