Default Felpro vs cometic head gaskets

I have a NA LS3 and trying to decide between 0.041 Felpro and 0.040 cometic. Any opinions, experience with both? I am leaning towards felpro. I've read several opinions that they seal a little better.

In an NA LS3, you're not exactly pushing the limits of the head gasket so I doubt either one will offer a distinct advantage over the other.

Default Felpro MLS = Legal

MY friend, in JAPAN, designed the MLS gasket with PATENT. (world wide)

FELPRO BOUGHT that license to produce this item WITH COMPLETE engineering.

THUS there is NO engineering of equality.

MY report = PROBLEMS with Cometic.
CASE : FUGI EJ-2x gasket problems, never looked again.

A bit UNFAIR, I DO NOT "smoke".

WHAT I STATED is TRUE with all the .docs and pictures.

My Experience :

1. Bench Dyno Test, MY SF Dyno with an EJ-25 Turbo, Sleeve Block, Studs.

2. I made 960 HP UNTIL the Cometic Head Gasket "cracked" around the bore.

3. The Gasket DID NOT "push", it extruded itself into the bore area.

WHAT is YOUR EXPERIENCE, the BOTH of you ?

I am not doubting your experience, I am just trying to figure out what you are talking about. Your use of CAPS and punctuation sometimes makes it a challenge to follow what you are meaning.

OK, a fair statement.

Thus what is your question, a question that I could be able to answer ?

The Fel-Pro MLS is a much better gasket then the Cometic. This is just from my experience with power adder cars and off-shore power boat engines.

What Panter EFI is stating is close to what I have heard to be true also.

I have been running Cometic since Felpro didn't offer the thickness I wanted. So far so good. I am only pushing around 450 hp tho. I had the heads milled and cleaned the crap out of the sealing surface on my iron block. I also applied the gasket dry with no copper seal. Working good so far, I would assume the gasket would of failed on the first initial run.

Default China Head Std's = OK

OK, the latest statement is in the opposite direction of gasket life.

The type of failures I have observed happen over a period on time.

First, I ask about the type of head bolts/studs ?

QFT and in a NA application I doubt Fel-Pro or Cometic will have a problem.

I am using the FelPro 1161 gaskets in .041" on my 403 with a descent amount of nitrous. They have been excellent. It was at the recomendation of Richard Maskin of Dart Machinery.

My observation, also stated at the Fel-Pro site, is that the 1041 has a welded O-Ring.

This is the gasket I state.

Sorry, I need to be more specific.

I too agree with Dick.
