So I ended up buying a LY6 last week...probably going to just do the rebuild kit and leave the displacement alone until I get caught I'll put pop up pistons to get the compression up... She'll be getting a canton circle track oil pan, gmpp front timing distributor kit with Ford msd billet dist contolled by msd box and likely an 830 Nascar carb that I have laying around.
Now I am debating on what to do with the top end. Obv some porting and polishing will be in order as well as a port matched Super Victor or the Trick flow LS3 single plane (not sure which is better.) Trick flow is $100 cheaper. I know this thing will be seeing 7000+ rpm to get the hp/tq results I want. Also the races are usually 50 laps so valvetrain longevity is important. I need someone to spec me out a cam as well for a circle track car with a carb and single plane.
Also, after more research on the 3pedals build and seeing it ate up his valve train rather quickly, I was thinking about going with a set of the comp cams 1.8 rockers with guides and studs over the stock ones with trunion upgrade....if it's worth the extra $400 for longevity I will spend it. Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks so far!!
