Default Rocker AND Lifter = SAME

Hi ALL, yes twenty years ago we created the PML "carbe" intake for LS-1 AND fitted MY IGN-8 ignition controller as I was the ONLY source.

The "caught" the eye of Carl Wegner as he was creating the GN-WEST NASCAR front drive AND specifications.

The tests made then were VERY careful, one of those programs was to test ALL rocker arms made at that time.

WHAT WAS FOUND : The GM cast S/S rocker are was the best AND made more HP when the CHE trunnion was fitted.

NEVER head of one breaking and the Valve Spring (PSI 1511ML) has not ever been reported broken.

This is of course with the Valve Lift of the 1511ML in specification.

NOW the T/T engine in BAJA races use .800" lift and Crower Shaft Rockers.

So I ask about the lifters, NOT bearing style, the "bushed" style.

I have had good luck, are their others who could report problems ?
This type of problem as the SAME as with the trunnions.

They are the same kit.

Lance, thank for the info. Next time one of my cars needs trunnions it will be the CHE set up.

Default Rocker Arm Bushings.

Hi, to be honest, I have experience only with CHE.
The observation of the other manufacture's products states A Good Quality product.

My case IS I sent CHE my used rocker set, they replace (install) their product AND when returned I observe a new looking rocker arm set.

That cost is $400.00.

IIRC the early Sharps had wear problems so they switched to fully hardened 52100, from what I've heard they held up better than the rest of the bearing kits but still wear.
Once upon a time the Summit Racing site stated that their kits are not intended for street use.

My buddy and I made a set out of 52100 with hardened ends where the bearings ride. We just checked them last weekend. A bit over 28k miles and they look brand new.

When you use the correct material, heat treat them correctly, and machine them correctly, they work great with no wear. Go figure!

These came already assembled on my PRC 260 cnc heads on my TSP 418 stroker. This is a street car that I have done a couple 5000 mile road trips with over the last couple years. Out of 16 rockers there were only 4 that I would have considered re-running and several have significant wear the entire width of the bearing needles and deep enough to catch a nail on. Glad I checked before they put any more metal through the motor.

Cam is a TSP 235/239, started with EHT .675 springs, now on PAC .660's. I have ordered Straub bushings to try next.
I ran into the same situation and ended up replacing mine with the Straub bushing kit. Cam is 243/251 and springs are .700 here. Just waiting on a brake booster to come so I can get the car back together. How are the bushings working out so far?

Where again can one find the CHE LS trunion kit? TSP has them for $200 and I'd gladly drive over there and pick one up if I didn't have to pay shipping and sales tax, is there anybody outside of Texas who is offering this?

Hi all,
Not to do any high jacking, but I thought because of the mention of the hardened metal particles getting into the oil from the failing rocker shafts and just wear in general, you might like to know about a couple products we have developed that help prevent unfiltered oil from getting into the bearings, lifters and rocker trunnions. They help force all the oil through the filter. Here is a link if you want to know how they work.

Has anyone experienced this wear with Harland Sharp kit? I was told the center was hardened by them.

Anyone check the Bushing kits for wear yet? I see a lot of people have changed to this kit but i don't see anyone checking them for wear. I have them for my new motor being built so it will be a while before i check.

This Thursday I will be pulling my comp trunnions out in favor of a bushing style trunnion. I will post pics good or bad but they will only have about 1,000 miles on them with the cam in my sig.

Default CHE = TimeSert

Hi T/A, when you call CHE, a quality manufacturing business, they WILL STATE to install TimeSert (rose-buds) AND quality Bolts in the rocker arms/cylinder heads.
