Default Shoould I get me heads milled?

It's an LH6 with the stock 243 heads and GM says the compression ratio is 9.5. It's going in a Cutlass and used as a weekend street play toy. Fuel will be premium or flex fuel. I'm going to upgrade the cam when I get rid of the DOD, stock tbss intake as long as it fits. First priority is reliability, second is power.

How much can I expect to gain milling the heads and how much would be a good amount.

When you have a custom cam spec'd they will tell you whether you can mill with a certain cam If not, measure using the clay system. You will need a certain ptv clearance.

These engines use smaller cams compared to ls2/3 you can mill .050 no problem use .040 head gasket then get a cam with lift in the .560 to .580 range max with around 220 to 222 duration @.050 compression should end up in the 10.4 - 10.5 range.

You may want to search for the best producing cams for your engine there's lots of data about em in the forums.
