Default Gen IV Connecting Rods

I have a LM7 5.3 with Gen IV connecting rods and pressed fit pistons. Would a set of floating pin pistons work with my connecting rods? If I can use these pistons is there anything else required for this to work. Thank you.

If I understand what you are asking, no. The wrist pin has to be retained by the C-clips in the pistons or by a press fit in the rod. I believe all gen IV rods are floating,

floating pin pistons like our 4.8 flat tops, 5.3 dished, or ls1 bore floatin pin pistons will work with a pressed pin rod. You just dont use the pin clips. Sometimes the rod may need a slight hone. OR you can also have the rod machined for a floating pin. Thats what im doing to a set of gen3 4.8 rods.
Gen4 rods will of course work with floating pin pistons BUT you cannot use press pin style (gen3) pistons with a gen4 floating pin rod.

If you have a gen 4 it should be a floating pin so yes you can use floating pin pistons

Thanks for all the help. I have a different 5.3 then most. Its a Gen 3 engine externally but a Gen 4 Internally. My Rods are Gen IV but my pistons are press fit not floating.

That is not possible.
Gen4 rods really werent "gen4" its just an easy way to label them. They started in 04 for the lq9 and a few others but every 05+ engine and every gm reman from around 2009 and up used them.
If that is how your engine came, then it never ran. The pins would hit the cyl wall on warmup.

i have seen two sets of these. one in my NA truck, another i sold on here for $85 a while back.

they are in fact just exactly what OP states. beefier Gen 4 type rods with a bushed small end and a pin that is press fit into the piston.

yeah its an oddball for sure. denmah has seen a couple himself. calls them gen 3.5. all from 24x dbc NBS trucks.

the one in my NA truck has been a beast. a year of 18 psi on pump gas, no meth and now it pulls down 18mpg on the highway hauling yard debris haha

Are you sure the pin is press fit into the piston and not the rod? When I heard about these, it was the Gen IV rod that was machined without a bushing to have a press fit with the pin, same as the older rods, and then the pin still floated in the piston pin bore. I've never seen a set personally, just asking for clarification.

nah i'm pretty sure it was pressed to the piston. there were no oiling grooves in the piston as seen here.

I did disassemble one and it had the normal gen4 type bronze small end bushing with a chevron shaped oiling groove.

What did it take to press it out?
