Default 4.8 ly2 need some help guys

Ok to start this off I’m such a noob that I have no idea about ls motors but I have been researching ok and so far I’m at a stand still with my current project. Here’s what I need help figuring out!!

ok here it goes:

the ls4 can fit the f40 (fiero, g6) tranny straight bolt up but with a custom starter mount.
i was also told that the ls4 can fit the t56 and t56 magnum tranny’s.

the ls 4.8 ly2 can fit a t56 and t56 magnum bolt straight bolt up.. sooooooo

that leads to my question couldn’t the ly2 4.8 ls bolt right up to the f40 fiero/g6 tranny as well???

Actually, the LS4 won't bolt up to a T56 because the bellhousing bolt pattern is WAY different. I have one in my garage I can take a picture of later.

Also on a side note!?!Would you be able to get me some exterior dimensions of your ls4?Like passenger side to driver side so I can know the width, preferably the farthest out pulley .Then length of it from the front of it to the back of it as if it was front of car to windshield? I would greatly appreciate it!!

The 4.8L uses the same tranny bolt pattern as every other Chevy engine since '55. ONLY the LS4 has the FWD mounting face. The LS4 is the odd cousin in the LS family.

Only problem I have with the 4.8 is I need a smaller more compact manual transmission to attach it to. Any ideas?

Nothing that is suitable for FWD configuration.
Exactly what are you putting together?

Before committing to a layout, I would be sure there is a transmission that will support it. Have you researched how many cars there are with commonly available transverse V8/manual transmission combos? The answer is next to none, if that.
Better to look before leaping...
There are FAR more possibilities with a longitudinal layout, as there are a number of Porsche trannies that will do the job.

The 5.3 LS4 is the only way to make it work FWD within reason.

One thing to know, the OEM LS4 setup had problems. NOT with the engine, but the transmission. I think the engine was just too much for the drivetrain. I think the tranny was originally made for a V6, then beefed for the 5.3, hoping it would do. It did, but barely. The forums dealing with the LS4 cars discuss the trans troubles constantly. It is NOT a good setup. What is your customer actually looking for, and more precisely, WHAT exactly are you building?

I just have a block and crank, not a fully dressed engine.
