Default Ly6 bored to 6.2

Cast iron 6 0 bored to 4.065, .10/.10 on Crank Main and Rod Journals, got .10 Tigther Clevite 77 P series bearings and using 6.2l LS3 flat top pistons and rods. Installed everything, spins nice, put of curiosity I pulled 1, and 3 connecting rod caps to look at bearings, they look like this...

Not sure what you're asking; how new are these bearings?

They are brand new, just installed them on a newly machined crank. I only spun the crankshaft on an engine stand about 25-30 times and I pulled the rod cap off to see how it looked and it looked like this. Is this normal

Sorry bro. That’s not normal. I’ve seen bearings with 100k hard miles not look that bad. You need to check clearances. Just be glad you caught it now. It would not have ran long like this.

its the outer coating wearing off the tri metal clevite bearings, as soon as it starts up. Wouldn't it all be polished up and worn? I thought this happened because I spun the crank manually a bunch. The bearing is smooth as butter.

Did you assemble the engine dry, or use assembly lube?

That’s not good. That coating shouldn’t come off unless there is contact. Read the back of the bearing. It should say STD. Or .010”, .020” etc...what does it say?

Again, you need to measure clearances. Maybe rod pins didn’t get cut, only mains? I can only guess about that, but either way you need to check.

Gotcha. Again, I’d check everything. I have to ask however, I’ve never seen anyone just out of curiosity pull a rod cap back off, unless they suspected a problem. What were you looking for? Did you install ARP rod bolts by chance?

I think BOTH times you mean .010, not .10. .10 is one hundred thousandths.

I'm just a strange individual. I just wanted to make sure everything looked amazing, because everything felt fine and I wanted to verify my feelings with my eyes. The shortblock. With pistons and brand new rings spins with 20 ft lbs of torque. I checked with a torque wrench.

At the very least plastic gauge it. Not perfect but at least you will know if there isn’t enough clearance.

Your rotational torque is good.
