Default Daily driver LS2 cam choices

After searching I’ve thought I’d post another cam choice thread. Fuuuck another cam thread.... I know, I know. There’s so many options out there. Car is an 07 CTSV has longtubes, corsa exhaust and cold air kit at this point. My thoughts are daily driver, more power from 2000- 6500. Not looking for peak numbers, the car is fun to drive but how much more fun could it be with a bigger cam, but I don’t want something that I’ll regret going to big. So, low duration high lift, high duration low lift, low duration low lift? I keep seeing ones in the 220-230 range. The only big cam car I’ve driven had an MS4 and while it sounded badass I don’t think I’d want to daily it.

My .02 since Im planning a cam for my DD 07 C6 M6 Im going 223/227 .600"/.590" 115*+3*
But I have Hills in SF and potential to get caught in horrific traffic (rare for me but it happens)
I would suggest 224-228 Intake duration with +4-6* Exhaust so between 224/228-228/234
and lift ~.600", LSA between You and your Cam Guru ,I like Steven @ Cam Motion (Fantastic Customer Service).
Those specs with a good tune will be very DD friendly with stock heads or ported,
aftermarket heads as well. Add Fast 92-102 for another 15-20+ through your whole Curve.

The "Sound" will come from a very good tune and a LOW Idle Speed ~750 RPM.

Crossing 230* Intake Duration in a 6.0 or smaller in a manual is the Rubicon for a DD for me.
Good Luck

Thanks, Texas Speed recommends the 228R cam which seems to be just under the torquer V2 that a buddy recommended.

I had a little ole 346 M6 with a 229/236 .631.631 112+2... My wife actually loved driving it. She had no issues.

Flowtech Induction HellRaiser cam. Google it. I made 460/420 to the tire with 59cc AFR 205's and a Fast 92/92 combo. Again, this was in a 145k mile 346, not a 6.0.
Exactly as described on the website, the midrange is ridiculous.

BTR stage 2 or Cam Motion Titan 4. Both easily drivable. Some people rave about the EPS 226 cam.

Do a split duration with more exhaust duration. It will carry past the peak.

OK.....my engine is a LS3.....I know, not the 'same'.

Still....the Lingenfelter GT1-1 cam is nice as hell. Enough overlap to let people know the deal, but plenty streetable at the same time. It's the cam in my daily driven Impala.

229*/242* duration, .631"/.631" lift, 114* + 0* LSA and 7.5* overlap.....with PRC 260 heads, good for 493hp/428tq through a 4L60E and 3200 stall TC.

So.....pretty close to Dr. Whigham's cam.

I think you'd be please with either of our cams or something VERY close.

Best cam to use is a 204/211 116 LSA camshaft.
This will make close to 500rwhp and make you feel that you have the baddest sounding engine around.
You can't beat the stock LS2 cam specs

You cannot beat the stock ls2 cam for VALVE FLOAT I tell you that. I seen articles that had it happen and I have two stock ls2 engines. 5800 rpm makes valve float.

Ported and shaved heads, ported dorman ls2 intake and Ls7 Cam will get you 45-65 more rwhp and drive Stock

I recently built a forged LS2 / 403 with PRC 243 heads, 11.5:1 CR, and Fast 92. I installed one of the 2 Cam Motion LLSR cams I have, this one is 236/240 - .640/.615 on 113+3. I've been working on the tune, making progress, but can't completely get rid of the light-throttle bucking (M6). I have another LLSR that specs at 228/236 - .630/.615 on 116 +2, and I know I can tune this one to drive like stock. Both LLSR cams were spec'd for a 346, not a stroker. So should I ask CM to grind me an "in-between" cam designed for the 403 or just stick the 228/236 in there and forget it? This is for a Power Tour / fair weather / road-race car but I daily-drive it sometimes. Thanks guys.

Quick question -- is those duration numbers the actual numbers or hydraulic equivalents?

Something like a 232/236-115+3?

look, you have the 28 right now in your possession. I think you'll wish it was bigger later on, but you can install that for the cost of fluids and gaskets
