AFAIK the holes are the same spacing.
I did note while clearing the excess metal in my block out of the way using my electric hole-finder, that they aren't symmetrical on the block. The whole hole pattern is offset about 1/8" or so to one side. Maybe putting the tensioner in upside down could lead to the impression that there's 2 patterns?
I didn't use the factory one though, mine was from some other vendor. Looked an awful lot like a factory one except a different color. But AFAIK that vendor (sorry... can't remember... as they say, your memory is the 2nd thing you lose as you age, I just can't remember what the 1st one was supposed to be) only offers one part #.

Ah, thank you! I knew I wasn't crazy... I remember worrying whether I was getting the right one when I was doing my 2004 LM4 motor. There was someone on eBay selling a limited quantity of the rarer ones with the right spacing if I recall correctly... that was something like 8 years ago for me lol!
