Any pictures of your exhaust? It sounds like a pretty sweet setup.

I'll have updates eventually.

Waiting on some stuff to come in. You know. The world is ending, etc.

But the exhaust I am planning has to be fabbed up.

I'm doing the American Racing 2" headers with the 3.5" collectors with the 3.5" y-pipe to a 4" merge. I plan to run to a 4" Spintech 364SC Split Case muffler. And run a 4" QTP e-cutout. I think it'll support the power and be quiet enough for driving around. Should actually take up less space than the dual 3" exhaust did and probably support the same horsepower. I moved away from the Kooks TDs to the TSP 3" magnaflow-like exhaust with a 3" cutout (for now), and it's really what I want. I wish they made it in a 4" variant... then I'd be golden. They do make a 3.5" but I want the extra flow through the exhaust. Plus, I think I like the Spintech sound more than the Magnaflow.

The other issue is the headers won't fit until I install the new k-member. So it'll all end up going in with the motor.

Its hard to believe you ditching an X-pipe setup and going to a Y-Pipe setup?

I hope you can give us all an update before the world ends so we can die fulfilled.
But going to a Y pipe?

Meh. It's too loud. And it scrubs on everything. Car isn't designed for duals. Everyone convinces themselves... oh it sounds good. And scrubbing on everything is fine.

No. It's not.

I did it for 5 years. I ripped it all off, and I haven't missed it. Not one bit.

I love the way Spintech's sound. I've always considered swapping out my Magnaflow Race muffler for a Spintech, sometimes I wish my car was just a tad bit louder. I think you'll be happy with the larger piping. My 3.5" Mufflex has a very clean, deep tone. Let us know how those 2" headers fit. I just swapped out my 1-3/4 Grot's to 1-7/8" ARH's. It's amazing how much tighter the 7/8's are.

Will do.

The 3.5" collectors are the issue. With an aftermarket K, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Will have loads of room. And don't think going to 3.5" y-pipe off the collector will lose a lot of ground clearance. That's not where the issue was. With the duals, it's before the axle is where it hangs low (and I was running the Kooks setup--and they fit perfectly--but the issue is there's just no where for the pipes to go but to hang down there).

Well, I'd provide some updates. But I'm locked out of my account. Testing this one out. Note to self--don't update phone and PC at the same time and forget the authenticator magic step.

OK, need more updates! I'm following what you're doing because I have a very similar plan to build a motor for my black 2001 T/A! My 383 has over 100,000 miles on it and I think it's time for an upgrade! I have been thinking about a N/A 440 for a little while. I'm probably going to spend the money on the MMS LS7 heads and get a RED Darton block. Cam specs will be long, drawn out process! But, my goals are the same: fun street car with a/c (Houston heat is brutal!) and occasional drag street and Texas Mile events. Power Tour, too, maybe! Good luck with your build and I look forward to seeing more posts.
