I thought this would be ok in a 454? Have you tried raising your idle speed a bit? What does it sit on?
I would probably get Mamo to help you with camshaft selection using his comp solid lobes which will run quieter than the ones you have and will require less lash.
You should be able to get away with around.006 cold lash on iron which should make a good difference with noise.
Less overlap will equal less fuel and engine will probably drive smoother too maybe.
Although you did mention quite a few times that the driving experience was already very smooth.
my iron shp block and llsr is set at .002 cold and pretty quiet

Comp do say to not run cold lash tighter than .004 unless you have block heaters as valves may hang open on a cold day and BAM.
Are you using a cam motion LLSR?
.004 cold lash should net us .010 hot lash with iron.

I set cold at .002 before I engine dyno then checked after we warmed it up. Was .006 hot

Are you using a cam motion grind?
If so, I'm not sure how low you can go without running into issues.

I think its time to replace the t56.... Highway driving under load it rattles , let off the gas and no rattle. Can still run thru the gears like normal....
Ill grab a Magnum F

Probably can't handle the brute force of new engine setup?

Is it 5th and 6 th only! They’re on their own cluster that is serviceable without dropping the trans. The trail housing comes off.

I'll have to take it for a drive and see but i think it is 5th and 6th. Dont know why they would have gone , ive never done a hard pull in 5th or 6th. Only use 6th 75mph and up......
Its an easy fix then?
Would anyone have heard if there is a stand alone transmission controller for the 10speed auto... Ive been hoping this box lasts long enough to see a controller on the market

It does not require a hard pull. The cluster gets loose on the countershaft. There is a really good thread on it in the manual transmission section

So i went for a drive and was in 2 minds whether it was gearbox, at times it sounded like gearbox, then other times it didnt.. I got under it again , found the heat shield on fuel tank loose, tightened up the nuts, no more stuffed gearbox lol... Feel like a tosser now but at least i didnt need new gearbox to find tht out haha

I think the engine swallowed a little bird, bit of chirpin sound coming from it. Its either that or ive dropped a lifter. I checked lash few days ago and right hand rear cylinder intake seemed to change a little . Reset lash on tht rocker, started it up and everything seemed fine, but heard 1 little chirp. Pulled fan belt off and started it to rule out pulleys, its not the pulleys.
Lifters are crower
Looks like i'll be pulling the head off and hopefully its just the lifter and the cams fine....If the cams stuffed ive got a decision to make, stay solid with bigger spring pressures and mayb drop in a set of isky bushed lifters or go back to hydraulic . I dont mind maintenance but dont want to be replacing lifters every 6 months

How many miles/time are on the Crower lifters? You running a standard .842” lifter?
edit...you can see the rear lobes/lifter wheels from the valley. Don’t pull the head just yet...

Hey Mick, sorry to hear these issues you are having.
Did you ever find out direct from Crow what spring pressures their street solids require at a minimum?
I did mention they seemed a bit low for a solid.
I hope the lifters aren't already stuffed after such a short time.
Do you have Mamo's hollow stem intake valves in the heads?
If you change springs, use the Manley next tek spring like the one in mine and Darth's setup and set the seat pressure to 200lb with 510lb open.
This is how Tony is setting mine up.
If you do go back to a hydraulic maybe try cam motion or one of their low lash solids.
Or give mamo a call and get him to spec you something from comp cams solid roller line.
Hydraulics are maintenance free as you know but the short travel lifters can be a bit noisier.
So many way of doing it
For hydraulic I would use something like a 249/262 114LSA +3
