This is a build out of my comfort level, I've been told the LS3 cylinders seem to flew on the lower skirts with big compression and RPM. Main reason I was thinking half filled.

im running a stock ls7 block at 12:1, 8000+ rpm and at least 750 hp

no reason why it wouldn’t work here and it’s a great block for NA power. And always go to the larger bore for NA power. And they have longer cylinders to control a piston with a 4” stroke. That’s what it’s designed for

I’d only use an ls3 block if I had it. The cylinders can be wonky in them

Thing is, it you're going to use a LS7 block, just build a 427. It's less work

Check the cost of a Ls7 block used or new vs other LS blocks for resleeving... Get a good resleeve and you can drill the block near the cam for bay to bay breathing from the front to rear. Steve @ RED trick. Whole thing is the cylinders moving with higher hp levels....
Get a good decent prices block resleeve it move on. Any ? Call Steve @ RED or have your Rep contact his buddy Zach at TAF.

I am building a similar motor to what you are building(big power LS3 topend) except I have a lot more constraints. What I have researched regarding blocks is this. For NA max power and best bang per buck, Dart Iron, the end.

Now if you want alum, that's a different boat. Per Steve at RED, LS2 is best to resleeve for NA. As Smokey said, he can do a 5.3 and bore holes in the bays, but nobody that I know of has tested their effectiveness vs og bay to bay venting. I would never do an LS7 block unless you bought one already resleeved. Cylinder are thin as factory. If you fubar something, they only have a .005-.010 overbore, that's it-then you resleeve. The Dart alum is the winner for a lot of reasons. Yes, they cost $$$, but you get so many upgrades, it's totally worth it. By the time, you resleeve an LS2 or 5.3 block, ARP the mains, and prep, it's about $1200 or so difference to go a Dart. JMO, good luck!

Had a good talk with my sales rep at FED, going to hold off a lil until my customer makes a decision on what block. The way we spec'd the heads caught their attention and CF would like to over shadow the build. So this could be a sick build lol

In terms of stock blocks I'm interested to know what you're basing this claim on, "sleeved LS7 is best NA block"

After I have a good conversation with JR, I'll be visiting the shop after PRI and have a talk with Chris on this next build.
Will be wicked for sure.

After my post on Darth's Math thread.....something hit me. Y buy pistons twice. I've paid for assembly and waiting to get the top end back. So I called JE piston, told them what I had and no longer intended to use the pistons. 13'ish, just Ain't enough and using corn. 10% restock fee 90 bucks and get the ones I had been looking @ for the other set of heads. With 62cc's and a flat top I was @ 13.1 depending on gaskets. Now looking @ 13.1 with 68cc's. Talked to the rep (Frank) i talked to before when I asked about Carrillo Dome tops. There for a ls3 but has a solid dome for fly cutting when swapped to my spare Ls7 heads. Now looking at about 14.2 on compression. Not being scared to talk is a win.

Lol more torque per cube than an F1 engine.

I like FED a lot but I hate seeing them post stuff like that.
