Should I look at link bar lifters? Saw some ferraras with good reviews. Or just stick with the johnson 2110s?
Heavier valve train parts only make the motor lazier if they are on the valve side. On the lifter side it is usually a benefit.

The benefit of lighter parts on the valve side is control. Less mass is easier to control. If you increase mass on the valve side, you must increase spring pressure, which means you need beefier lifters and pushrods. So your focus on mass reduction in the valvetrain really just needs to be on the valve side

You do not need link bars until you reach a certain lift. There are trays in the factory engine that hold the lifters in the proper orientation. So as long as you keep your cam lift below .650, which is what your cam options are, johnson 2110 is a great choice.

Oh makes sense. Thanks for being so helpful man I really appreciate it. On the spring side I was looking at the springs Lazer suggested. Would there be any other negative to going with something like a regular btr or tsp spring besides the added weight? I understand the control issues. Mostly just learning here. I have heard that the high lift springs have a short service life, some saying as short as 10k? Is true? And is that when theyre being used to max .660 lift or all the time? Ill give a serious look to those springs he suggested. Not sure on the Ti retainers as he had one crack already and its a street car.

The btr spring I am comparing the PsI to is the btr platinum ls spring with optional Ti retainers.

I have btr springs in my 5.4 and they have a good rep in the Mod world is why I ask.

Went ahead and ordered the headers I want and a GPI ported and rod modded intake. Baby steps.

Nice choices. Spring life largely depends on cam and springs chosen. An aggressive street can with normal springs will typically last more than 10k miles but they say to at least pull one every 10k and check it.

I assume something like the titan 3 would be a less aggressive choice. Still good idea to check every other oil change though huh? I guess its a much easier deal on an ls than a mod. Have to pull the whole front cover to check springs on those.

Yall promise that size of cam will have the idle I want? Watching videos of the titan king and it Chops.

Again it's about what you want. The Titan 3 is a good compromise, easier on valvetrain with a lower power and for a streetcar, and will still chop which can also be made more rowdy with the tune. If you want just plain nasty and don't mind revving it or having worse street manner, go King Titan.

I know the titan 3 is the smart choice. Il just work with the tuner to get the idle how I want.

Cam motion lobes are pretty good for spring life. As to idle, tell tuner to get aggressive on over/under spark. That will help it chop

Will do. Have to decide on a tuner too. Theres a guy in town. His car is fast but ive heard hes killed a few motors playing in the dyno. Might have to see if hes still at it. Other options are taking it up to bonner springs. Just such a haul. Will at least need a local tune to get me by with the intake and lth.

Theres another guy who I think is out of the game, he tuned a buddies h/c/i ta in high school.

Except for posing, what is the point of that? A "chop" is inefficiency in action, an intermittent misfire. I'd rather run smooth, and smoke the clueless competition.

Then why not use a cam that does it for real? I can't see running crappy on purpose.

The cam will do it for real? Also its not crappy. Its just a function of how the cam works. These motors arent vvt. Cant have your cake and eat it too. Its not like im getting a "ghost cam" tune on a coyote here.

If the tuner needs to make it lope or chop, it's not that big a cam. A lope or chop is an intermittent miss. If it can be tuned out, it is no longer running crappy. But that is your choice.

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a misfire is or what were discussing.
No biggie everyone is entitled to their opinion amd to build their car the way they want.

If all cylinders are firing all the time, there is NO chop or lope. Simple mechanics.
It's up to you if you need the boy racer sound. You're losing power and efficiency by doing so, which I think defeats the purpose of building performance. But whatever..

Titan 3 will not be too inefficient. It will be noticeable but not thump like mine likely will.

Thing is by using the adaptive spark. It will idle choppy. It once you clear 1.2% throttle it jumps to the main tables. Then it runs as smooth as the cam allows.

What exhaust are you running on your Vette. That has a whole lot to do with the sound you're looking for. I have Kooks 1.875" long tubes along with non catted Z06/ZR1 mid pipes and ZR1 cans. Even with my itty bitty cam, it sounds good with the flaps closed and sounds more than a little nasty with the flaps open. At 7000rpm, it will wake the dead.

So

Titan 3 cam.
Johnson 2110 lifters
3/8 pushrods of tbd length (brand? Material? Cm okay?)
Springs? (dual, single? Psi? Btr platinums?)
Ti retainers (does brand matter here? Probably would just go with same brand as the springs if possible.)

Almost there.
