No big deal.
I'm just wanting the engine to finally get together and completed.
It's been over a year since I have properly driven my hot rod.

Hey guys.
I finally have an update.
The heads are finally here.
They are seriously a work of art.
I don't want to bolt them to the car.
I want to hang them like a chandelier and just admire them.

The block and machining will be ready this week also.
Then a dummy assembly and then the block needs to go back so it can be zero decked.
Then finally, ready for assembly.
Enjoy the pics

By the way, does anyone know if these AFR heads out of the box accept 1/2 " studs?

See if a 1/2" bolt slides thru.

Judging by the holes in the heads I'd say yes but get a 1/2" stud and check it out.

Heads look fantastic. Tony does very good work. Sorry I just saw this. At least set them on the coffee table for a few days. One hell of a conversation piece.

I am very happy with these heads indeed.
I did have them out for a few hours just looking at them and just seeing how much more beefier and rigid they are compared to the OEM castings.
The rocker bosses area especially is strengthened so much more.
The material is so thick.
Then you have Tony's work to check out too.
You can tell it takes years of experience and practise to be able to do a finish like that.

Hey guys,
Another update.
I finally dropped off all the parts today to my builder.
The engine machining etc is complete and the block and parts are being picked up tomorrow.
I expect the engine to be completed in 2-3 weeks.
I will be posting photos in this thread once the engine starts getting back together.
Also, some of you may remember, I mentioned that my vehicle will be tuned on a hub dyno and these typically read higher than the roller dynos.
The good news is, my builder's hub dyno was re calibrated a few days ago to read the same as his roller dyno and when tested it was within 2hp on the same car.
I'm glad that change was made because then there will be more speculation whether or not the power figure will be accurate or not.

Last bit of information regarding the old LS2 408 and the oil pressure issues it was having.
The culprit/s was a scuffed cam bearing.
So all along this was the damn issue. I can't tell you how stressful this was back then...
The engine is all back together on the stand ready for a new top end now.

If the suspense was killing you with the 408 issue, I hope you can rest easy

Also, I saw the new BTR intake manifold in person.
A customer is putting it on his big cubed LS3.
It's a very nice piece.

The culprit/s was a scuffed cam bearing.
Not only that, that bearing was also faulty, there was a hairline crack in it. (This is another example when things go wrong, sometimes there is a purpose behind it)
Clevite replaced all the cam bearings free of charge and also discounted a set of new bearings for a refresh.
So all along this was the damn issue. I can't tell you how stressful this was back then...

glad you found the ISSUE with 408. I have the btr intake now and honestly it is nice.

Our suspicions ended up being correct.
It was a bearing after all.
How does the engine perform with that BTR intake?
What engine is it on?

Agreed. Wish it had been as simple as a lifter change affecting pressure, but glad to know there was something that actually explained it.
