LOL...it's an auto enthusiast forum nothing we do here is responsible investing. We are having fun making poor financial choices and the OP said "bench racing" so it's obvious this was a discussion just for fun.

The blue print is out there for going 8's on the cheap with an LS engine in several different chassis types. I give credit to those guys that shared that info early on so that others could do the same if that fit their goals. The issue is we all have different goals. We all like to make power and work on cars it's why we do this. We see guys spend endless thousands of dollars on a nice new corvette and then put a big inch motor in it just to run 9's on motor. Did they do this because they are stupid and the 8 second junk yard turbo mustang guy has such a higher mental aptitude that even though he shares the blue print to do this someone else would spend more only to go slower? Of course not...the reality is their goals were different.

Not gonna lie, I have ZERO goals with my Chevelle. Just always wanted one and I can’t do anything halfway...it’s all or nothing for me. Just enjoy getting it out and cruising a few times a year. I have several builds here that are high end. I own a business and need a way to unwind on the weekends and evenings. My shop time is therapy to me. I have Prolly $50k in hand tools and I like to build things. I’m a tool *****. I love to buy tools, even if I will never need them. Some people spend big money on drugs or alcohol or extravagant homes. I am the opposite. Small house on a few acres with a small shop in the mountains surrounded by wildlife management area. Don’t drink or drug. I like cars and if I want something I’ll go get it. Shoot I’ve spent more on travel baseball with my son over last few years than I have car stuff.
Now on the other hand, I raced asphalt late models for many years and that venture was heavily focused and extremely goal oriented with a huge forfeit of money involved. As fun as that was, I’ve had way more enjoyable moments with my Chevelle build and other Car/truck builds here. I guess the “no timeline” and “no rules” type of build for me is more appealing.

Oh boy. I think I would have Mamo build me a 434 for boost. Entire thing built by Tony. Aluminum LS next block. MMS LS7 heads. All
Lightweight internals. Built for an F1X-12 crank driven blower. 1500whp would be the goal.

Gen IV 4.8L iron block bored to 3.898",
3.898" Callies Magnum XL crank,
6.25" con-rods (sub-650g),
LLSR (spec'ed by Martin Smallwood),
MMS205's,
Whatever intake Tony recommends (Mamo-fied),
FMRP 700R4 (w/ engine braking)...

Given the amount of cash I would have left over, I might build an all-aluminum 4.8L LS6 with forged rods and pistons, using the block from a Gen IV 5.3L, Advanced Induction 218cc 243/799 heads, AI ported LS6 intake, 204/218 550/550 on a Cam-Motion VVT core, and a set of symmetrical snails.
