Another LS3
The Smartwire is pretty locked in to the Holley ecosystem and other CAN units are very limited with the Racepak CAN channels. Haltech just came out with a PDM but currently there is no way to run it without also using their ECU, although it sounds like this will change in the future. That effectively leaves Motec in the PDM space. The ECUM unit has one extra channel, can PWM it's 25A outputs (the Motec cannot), and is otherwise pretty identical. It can also fool an M1 ECU into thinking it's an actual Motec PDM. Seeing as I want to leave the door open to using an M150 ECU, and it's ~$1700 with a keypad vs $2500 for the Motec system, that's the route I'm going.
Should allow me to program all sorts of safety logic in the power distribution as well as completely eliminate the ignition key and replace it with a code entry on the keypad. If I hide a switch in an odd place as well as have the key pattern to allow the master power, should at least be effective as 90s GM anti-theft for the very very few times it gets parked in public.
In the mean time I'm most likely driving the Civic at KoTM, which is also what I'll be driving at Nationals. Only ~235whp on a Mustang dyno but 2730lbs so it's likely quicker than the Camaro through the tight infield section. Definitely won't win but at least I can play spoiler, and it will be good seat time for Lincoln the very next week.
The Civic was a great street car until we ruined it with 1100lb springs and a clutch diff. With the bigger turbo on my diesel Golf, I can't justify buying the Civic even with the company discount. The MK6 isn't quite as nice inside, but 200whp 340wtq and 47mpg tank average is still a good daily. Pretty damn stinky even with the high flow cat though...
Went to the CAM event over the weekend. The Civic is off the pace of a good CAM-T car, but I was still able to raw time Strano and his 4th gen in the afternoon on Saturday (he beat me in the morning). Sunday my car owner had to leave early, so I hopped in Nathan Popp's ~680whp 4th gen. Between the on/off switch on initial throttle tip-in, the wet but drying course, and the old 315 Rivals the car was a handful. I was at least able to get it within a half second of Strano on my 3rd run and probably could have caught him if I hadn't screwed up the last turn. I know I would have been faster in my own car but if Nathan can smooth out the throttle and get the front of the car to do anything, that won't be the case.

The ECU Master PDM is here, it's literally the size of my hand and will replace every single fuse in the car except for the ABS power supply. I could probably run that too if I really wanted but I decided not to. Current exchange rates also mean I couldn't not ditch the Terminator X. Once Motec catches up on manufacturing there is an M150 ECU and C127 dash on the way. Really excited to play with some of the more advanced functions like traction and launch control, as well as just really taking the time to plan the entire electrical system. Going to try to build the harness out now with future upgrades in mind.
Can't post the links, but I'd suggest looking in the UK if you wanted ECU Master parts and New Zealand for Motec.
As for the thread, still no update. Life is busy and Motec ECU orders are still being backfilled from July. I do have the dash and PDM working together on bench tests though.
