I've done the Rod bolts a couple of times on cracked rod LS motors no issues at all still running many years of abuse. Im not sure if those LS9 rods are cracked being Ti I think they are machined in which case a bolt swap without machine work sounds risky, which you can double down that statement for swapping studs into the mains as they are also machined. Stock hardware takes a LOT of hard running though, I cant see why you would need to swap these out?

Mains will def need align honed, no exceptions. Rods are a crap shoot, maybe/maybe not. Need to put bolts in and check them.

the "one at a time thing" is bullshit. Put the rod in a vise, w/o bearing, and install ARP's and torque to spec. Measure the inside dia of the hole, it'll either be round or not.

Can't say that I've ever seen a Main Bolt break, so I have to ask the question, why change them?

And for the people talking about Rod Bolts, that's not what the OP was asking about.

They’ll stretch and loosen up when they’re hammered on

i did a test with a digital Snap On torque wrench when I built my LS2 and found that the stock TTY main bolts will lose a lot of clamping force if you torque them to spec more than once. If you are setting up your bottom end and having to take the crank in/out. Plan on a fresh set of stock bolts for the final assembly. By the time you buy those, spend a few more, buy the ARP's, pay for the align hone and get it over with. There are no other options if you are doing it right.

Done multiple sets of stock rods with ARP bolts and never had an issue with roundness. LS1, 3 and 7 rods.

Have done multiple sets of ARP main studs and have had to align hone due to huge out of round on the mains.
