Only difference between LQ4 and LQ9 is pistons. LQ4 are dished 6.7cc and LQ9 are flat tops.
They both use the same cam after the LQ9 came out.

LY6 would be my choice as it has rect. port heads. I am not into upgrade-of-the-week. Buy it once and be done. A friend has a CNC program for those heads*, and, using an LS3 block and some race parts made 899 hp.
Of course that's an extreme case, but 600+ up is really easy with that platform.
*I'm pretty sure he doesn't have an account here, but he has competed in Engine Masters and built a small block Mopar with wedge heads that made a touch over 1000 hp.
