Default L92 advise

Hey all! New here and new to LS platform engines.. I’m not new to hot rodding and a father building a car with my sons. Question and statement here. I have a restored 69 Camaro which is the family “hand me down” that was gathering dust in my garage and off the road for 11 years, now gutted again and building a restomod. Along with that I bought an L92..so gone are the stuff I had added...396...TH350 and 12 bolt...SO...I’m going for it. And need opinions on my plan L92 with summit stage 4 cam 75lb injectors ..milled .015 of the heads and a terminator x. Using a .64 top gear TKO and 3.70s should run real healthy but daily driver (16 miles each way to work) or cam just too much ? Miles/rpm will be driven more in 4th because of the road speed limits. What you guys think?

Are you referring to the summit 8711 camshaft?

If going with a Summit Cam, id recommend the Stage 3 Ls3 Cam. Will not lose much HP compared to Stage 4 yet gain a lot more Torque. Just a better overall cam for Street/Strip and safer with milled heads.

I've done a couple of L92's with great results. 225I/230E 605 lift and 114 C/L cam. LS3 intake and 42 lb injectors. Mild 91 octane tune was 420 rwhp. I know not big numbers but they were easy to tune and ran flawlessly. I had TKO behind one and 4L60E behind another. Both were vey fun.
Don't know why you would need 75 lb injectors. Why mill the heads?

Who ground the cam? Sounds like a good one!

Well we all read and sometimes too much! I wanted to have some fun and really are notconcerned with dyno numbers in comparison to a ls3 I believe the L92 is at 10.3 comp and the LS3 10.8. So mill the heads for a little extra squeeze...75lb injectors for possible future combos so buy them once...the cam. So it is not cast in stone to keep the car as that can be swapped out later on a Saturday rather easy compared to an ol 406 so ...intake. Keeping the truck one as a lot of dyno info says the work pretty good in conclusion the thread was started to ask all of you what some might do with an L92

The cam is from Texas Speed. Also you will need better push rods and valve springs. I deleted the VVT on my L92's but that is up for debate. If it has DOD I would get rid of that completely. Some debate on the timing chain tensioner. Spring loaded or the solid plastic piece?
The tuner I use would say be careful with "rebuilt" or even new injectors that may or may not flow as indicated.

Hi LS1 TJ,

May I ask which injectors you went with on your L92 builds? I have an L92 that came out of an '07 Denali. Disabled the VVT, no AFM. The original injectors were bad and I found this link when looking for compatible replacements: https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/...e-performance/
In that link it lists the original, 30lb part plus 3 other options with direct fit. I grabbed the 49lb L96 injectors as replacement. I'm just getting started with the tuning. I have the FiTech ECU system and just for the initial setup where it starts right up I have them set for 28lb without it smelling rich. I'm just curious what you have gone with and their settings.

Good info! I may go this direction for my build.

you don’t need the mill the heads, you don’t need to change injectors. Keep The VVT. So many people delete it but sacrifice low-end torque. I run an L92 with VVT, headers, TSP cam and a tune in my 442 and it is a beast on the street.

i would make sure those "genuine AC" injectors are what they are. At $40 for the set I have grave doubts about that.
