Have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with. Doing a complete rebuild. Dod is deleted from ECU. Can I use my stock cam with ls7 lifters and stock pushrods? It’s been a screwed up process with this motor and want to make sure it’s done correctly this time around. Long story short don’t trust a shadetree rebuilder that works out of his garage!! Any help is appreciated.

You should use a non-AFM/DOD cam. The lobes are different between DOD and non-DOD lobes
The LQ9/lateLQ4 cam is closest to what you had before.

was thinking about a BTR stage 1, not sure if I would have to tune or not.

Use the BTR Truck Torque cam if you want increased torque from just off idle on up. 202/202, .511/.511, 111+1

A tune will not be a waste of money.. sort of optimizing your $$ input to the project.. Of course it depends on what the local tuner shops charge..

BTR stage 2 truck cam is where its at and a tune will definitely be necessary/worth it. Got my Tahoe to make 315hp/318tq at the tire with just that cam and long tubes.

I’m rebuilding the LY5 In my 07 Tahoe. Going back with BTR Stage 2 cam+ kit, along with rebuilding the engine. I’ll be getting a tune locally to remove the AFM and optimize the package. Will I be able to crank the engine before the tune guy does his stuff?

Yes, you can. The worst thing that will happen is that the engine may go into reduced power mode, but I've seen worse situations (broken valve spring tricking out the MAP sensor) where it didn't happen (it just ran like dog-****).

If it's only a stage 2 cam, you could probably drive it over to him, but I can't guarantee it.

Thank you. What do people charge these days for a tune? A friend charges $350 and uses HP Tuners. Is that in line? Friend does this as a side-line and his customers are happy.

My work background is electronics- I recently retired from the medical industry having been a Medical Equipment Technician in hospitals. I actually thought about buying the software and doing this myself.
