Gentleman the Happy Hooker rides again!!! My tuner went with me to the track so we could data log, make changes and boy did it pay off; I ran the 1/8 mile class tonight but the track owner did allow me to make some 1/4 mile hits to see what it was doing on the big end. The truck ran consistent 6.20/6.21 all night long, now remember the truck is a 29.5 tire 1/4 miler with 4.10 gears, so not geared for the 1/8 at all. Previous best was 6.30 1/8 mile and 9.90 1/4 mile. I made three quarter mile hits. 1st pass with hood on was 9.88, 2nd pass with the plexiglass scoop was 9.83, 3rd pass with timing and fuel adjustments was 9.76, and there is plenty of meat left on the bone once the new stall goes in. This is a footbrake truck launching at 3k. The 6k stall converter is showing 22% slippage but my new 6600 converter has arrived and should be around 8% slippage. There were 40 plus cars in the class tonight and I never expected to go several rounds tonight because we were making so many changes and I thought I was rusty. I made it to the finals and lost with a -.002 red! It's been a long hard road but tonight made it all worth while

Nice, I'm curious to see the converter difference, you would think the current converter with a lower stall would be more efficient then the new higher stall? Is it still an 8" converter?

Both are 8". The current converter is a 6000. The new converter is a mechanical diode 6600.

I went to the track last night and I've got mixed feelings on the new converter. My 1/8 mile fell from the 6.20's i was running a few weeks back to 6.34. However my quarter mile picked up from 9.76 to 9.72. She really eats on the big end.
Can you throw any more power at it on the starting line? They obviously took a ton of torque multiplication out of it. Unless you can find a way to get the launch back I’d be pretty bummed. Converters are extremely difficult and are the key to getting the best performance out of your combo.

I would do one change at a time. Possible to tighten up your old converter some? I would take a step back and look at how it all is working together. Maybe just try the 4!30's and/or add a touch of timing on the hit before swapping the converter.
