Still curious about this. Leaning towards the Cometics for the tight quench.
Get the cometic MLX, upgrade on the MLS ,
i use the Mlx and never had a problem

Hoping my heads and headers ship this upcoming week. Last update on the headers was May 6. Called about heads last week and was told "hopefully" no later than end of this coming week.

Meanwhile, I installed the crank scraper, cam, oil pump, new front cover, and half installed the balancer (messed up my install tool, will need to get another).

Pulled the trans/diff out to swap out the 3.90 diff for a 4.10 diff

Wired up the electric water pump and E85 sensor and cleaned up some other wiring.

Debating on doing IGN1A coils. Has anyone seen any concrete data of HP increase on these? A lot of hearsay but I haven't found much in my search.

Also, the longer I wait, the closer I am to ordering up a Holley Terminator

from what u have seen, while the ign1a are great, they sorta need to be in the right tuners hands to fully unlock all the gains of them......for me, im going against the grain and many knowledgable forum members and getting these Granatelli Motorsports Malevolent Coil Packs 28-0513-CPM | GranatelliMotorsports.com, dont think thats the ls7 spacing if interested you would need to calland confirm.

i did the reasearch and heres why i made the grannatetlli choice, not ordered yet but when its time im going with them. the ign1a puts out somewhere around 46000 volts, the granatelli have high 70000 volt and a low 80000.....this isnt a good selling point because whose to say 46000 isnt already sufficient and/or that 30000 more volts even performs any better in an ls motor better. no tests have been done that im aware of that say XXX volts is all you need on an ls car. cost wise i believe the ign1a are about 250 cheaper give or take. HOWEVER........the ign take a decent amount of tuning time to dial in where the grannatelli you would tune very very similar if not identical to a stock coil making it much less time consuming if you are paying a tuner. also the install is a bit more involved on the ign.....im running LME valve covers with the pcv ports built in and the mounts/stands for stock ls7 coils. the granatelli coils have the same dimensions as a stock ls7 coil so they will mount right up and you can also use the stock coil harness on the c6 engine harness. the ign will require a custom coil mount bracket fabbed up, not sure if you can buy one, but then you also need to buy an adapter harness becuase the stock harness wont work. i did the math and i believe the mounts and harnesses would add 150 to the coil install cost, making grand total about 100 to 150 less than the grannatelli. can not find any one running the grannatelli coils for feedback so decided to guinea pig them.

full disclosure, grannatelli is the internets most hated ignition company for ls cars. they got a real bad rep from people calling them out for the hp increases granatelli was claiming from their 0 ohm ignition wires. there has been a few heated battles on this one but if i remember, no one actually did any independent dyno tests in a closed test, same day before and after stock wire vs granatelli wire dyno test. the main argument of the granatelli haters is that virtually no power is to be had by replacing a good functioning gm/msd wire set with a new set of grannatelli wires. the other complaint is that taylor wires, used by many many of guys on high dollar builds for years and years have had no problems cost a little over half the cost of grannatelli wires. becuase of this, and because it has been proving stock coils are typically more superior than the aftermarket replacements, many people just jump to the conclusion that at 700 dollars the grannatlli coils are a waste.

Good info. I'll have to look into those.

Ended up ordering a Terminator X Max with drive-by-wire control.

Should be plenty of room to go another 1.5mm on the radius. A 112mm might be a stretch, but then again, maybe not

Yes, there was plenty of room for the 108mm. I opened it up in about 10min. I think a 112mm would fit just barely.

Ordered a set of the IGN1A coils and harness. Let's see how they do.

New ETA on headers is next Tuesday.
No word on the heads

Make sure tuner increases dwell time so you get the added spark energy
