Default 2007 Envoy LH6 AFM Lifter Collapsed

My Envoy had loud ticking and low oil pressure. I pulled the heads and found #1 cyl lifter collapsed and lifter roller was flat spotted and corresponding cam lobe ground down. Evidently the metal shavings off the lifter and cam scored two cyls bad. Deep scratches require a full engine O/H. Envoy has a E67 computer with AFM. I want a junkyard engine for replacement W/O AFM or VVT. Can anyone suggest a good candidate for this daily driver? This engine is not being federally subsidized and funds are debited from my retirement savings, so I need a cost effective transplant. Your advice is greatly appreciated....Alan

I'd start looking at pick a part junkyards if you're looking for a direct replacement. I'd suggest you don't, because of DOD, so any gen IV LS and some parts will work.

Find another Gen IV 5.3 aluminum block engine and get an AFM/DOD delete kit from either TSP, Summit, WS6store, or the vendor of your choice. Assemble and install, making sure to take AFM/DOD out of the tune.

AFM is PURE GARBAGE. This is the least surprising thing I've read all week...a GM with an AFM lifter collapse. Business as usual........

Do I need to limit my search to only engines sharing the E67 computer? Could I use engines that are in cars usinhE38 or E40 even though my Envoy has the E67?
