Default 07 LY6 / 4L80 Swap Questions

So I'm running around in circles here...

I have a stock 07 LY6 that had a 6l90, that I got a really good deal on, ran fine when pulled. Because of space issues in my project, I grabbed a 02 4l80e. And a camaro pedal.

I have the stock e38 ecu and harness for the engine. I do not have the trans harness or t42 tcm yet.

I can't seem to get a clear answer on the best budget minded way to get this setup to work!

Some say 'go Holley Terminator x max'. Ok, that's not exactly cheap, but then I have to delete the vvt. Can I just buy the vvt delete kit, and use the stock cam?

Others say 'reflash the engine ecu, and get a T42 tcm for the 4l80e, rework oem harness' . I can't find what the price would be to reflash, disable vats, tune for headers, etc, and how to rework the LY6 harness for the 4l80e. If it gets up to Holley Terminator pricing, might as well go Holley?

This project is budget minded, and aside from the headers, Im not looking to do any engine mods...

Any help would be appreciated! This is jamming up progress, and has me deflated lol.

I'm sure you know this, but none of this is cheap.

So you're kind of in no mans land. A terminator x max would solve a lot of problems for you, but then you're left with the wiring for the rest of the truck. Not sure what the aftermarket offers for the early dodge trucks, but I would guess you could keep the majority of the body wiring and make the ancillary systems work in conjunction with the Holley system. At least the X Max does standalone engine and 4L80E management.

If you did go T Max, the VVT delete is easy, any number of places sell whats needed for that. I would concentrate on getting the engine running in the truck and then go from there.

also, I would go manifolds over headers, save costs, so much easier fitment, and you said you don't want to do engine mods, so HP goals aren't that big of a deal at the moment.

Ls harness or Ls swap is a 1 stop shop. Name is Wrong. Reflash and harness available with deletes and all other needed plugs and accessories with the factory ecu.

Holley if u got the cash.... I'm on the fence as I have the factory ecu and harness.. I'd just get the transmission controller for my own 4l80

Idk..

Well the headers were needed for clearance. Truck chassis wiring I pulled out, have a Kwik Wire kit going in. Wiring doesnt bother me, its one of the few things I still like to do haha.

Now, as for the vvt delete. If I went the Holley route, and deleted the vvt, can I use the stock cam, and just slap on a typical vvt delete kit? Or am I forced to do a cam swap at the same time?

Annoys me Holley offers vvt support for gen 5 and not gen 4. Would make life much easier lol

VVT delete kits allow you to go from the single bolt to the 3 bolt cam. VVT in gen 4 is pretty much dogpoop so it makes sense that Holley doesn't support it. 99.9% of people get rid of it and AFM as fast as possible. You could also just sell that engine you have and go find a gen 3 LM7 if you don't want to be forced to change a bunch of things.

That is another option I've considered; go to a gen 3. Finding one pulled with history is a bit of a challenge where I am.
