Default Comp cams custom spec'd camshaft

What information would I need to give comp cams to spec out a custom camshaft for a 5.3 single turbo setup?

I don't know what the minimum is, but the more, the better. Including static compression, chamber CC, car weight, gear ratio, ECT.

Get with Cam Motion. Unlike Comp, they actually have guys who are knowledgeable in spec'ing cams.

I'll summarize generically:

Minimum:
  • Engine displacement
  • Fuel system type (carburetor or EFI)
  • Boost and type (Naturally Aspirated, Nitrous, Single Turbo, Twin Turbo, PDS Blower, Centrifugal Blower)
  • Vehicle weight
  • Rearend gearing
  • Transmission gear ratios
  • Torque convertor stall (if applicable)
  • Intake
    • Carburetor or throttle body size
    • Intake manifold
    • Cylinder Head (brand, part number, runner size)
  • Exhaust
    • Headers type and size (shorties, long tubes, primary diameter)
    • Full length with mufflers or open headers
    • Catalyst equipped
  • Tire
    • Diameter for effective gearing
    • Width
    • Type (drag/autocross offroad only, street-legal drag, mud/rock, road course)
  • Static compression ratio
  • Intended fuel: E10 87, E10 91, E85 pump (which can vary as low as 51% ethanol), C16, Methanol injection
  • Max rpm shift point
  • Planned use:
    • How much street cruising vs. offroad use
    • Type of offroad use (autocross, road race, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, mud, rockcrawling)
Helpful:
  • Bore/Stroke/Rod Length (if different from stock)
  • Quench distance
  • Maximum boost
  • Turbo size
  • Intercooler if applicable (and type)
  • Exhaust size (dual, single, pipe size)
  • Elevation where used if extreme (Pikes Peak for example)
