Lol, I was at work when I last read this thread... didn't expect it to lead to banishment!

Caught some of this on my phone as it was unfolding. I did see some comments made towards Scott in another post after BBC was banned when he came back as _Red_SS to vent more of his frustration.

That's a DAMN good question!!! Kudos to you and Scott. Obviously, some bolts should be replaced after one use. I've used my ARP rod bolts on 3 builds now. I'd never try that with OEM rod bolts. Also, this is probably my last use of my ARP rod bolts. Why? Because there are no other fasteners in the engine that are more stressed. Some guys say 5 rebuilds on ARP rod bolts. OK. But if it blows on the fourth build, "some guys" won't have to buy a new motor-I will!!!! My .02, which may be worth much more, depending on who builds what...

There's no reason people need to get all ticked off at every/most posts that don't agree with them. Scott didn't deserve the wiseass cracks made about him, nor the general tone. Once in awhile, I understand someone could say something out of frustration that come across as abrasive. Key here is ONCE IN AWHILE. Just because some guys don't agree doesn't mean you need to strap on body armor, and fire missles, ferchrissakes!! If I've offended someone, I usually apologize. I recently was called a "moron" on another forum. I guess I wasn't as clear on my suggestion as I should've been. But what I was visualizing and suggesting would work just fine. Being a T&D maker all the years I was, I sometimes forget not everyone will see what I do. Anyway, I'm damn near 70 years old and retired. I'm not a snowflake, but seeing as I'm in the twilight of my life, I'll be damned if I'm gonna participate in any forum that resorts to calling people names, or deliberately insults them, including me. I have far more important things to do with what little time I have left. If I want insults, I'll talk to my wife, LOL

Seeing how this thread is on top and a question I was thinking about I'll ask.

I also hava a 6.0 I'm building, found out it was bored and had regular cast pistons. I got new forged pistons. I'm going to get ARP rod bolts. The instructional video at Jegs has a guy just not meticulously at all swapping stock bolts out.

He's just torquing the ARPs straight to 40 foot pounds some two times some three or four times. ARP says apply their assembly lube and 40 foot pounds.

I like it, seems too easy.

Seems too many answers to the same question. Sometimes you just have to pick one and go with it. What's meant to be will be.

Is this a Gen III or IV? As far as I'm aware, when you add ARP rod bolts to stock rods, you have to get the big ends honed to size because the ARP bolts stretch in a different manner when tightened and can distort the bore. Or is that old news? When I built my LS1, I went with Katech bolts because of that exact reason. Just figured I'd mention it in case it's still a thing.

Did you ever see the Jegs video? It's a YouTube channel called Jegs Garage. Apparently the guy is using the instructions but it does give off a feeling that 40 foot pounds is 40 foot pounds he's definitely not overthinking it.

The op here should have watched the video lol.

Gen IV. I may get the caps all torqued and run them by my machine shop guy to see if he'll check them real quick. He's good to quick check stuff like that on a Saturday.

The issue with forums like this one is the sheer amount of " overthinkers" and "peace of mind" guys running around

LMAO!!!! There was more "Government" work done in our Toolroom on Saturdays than got done in D.C. Monday-Friday!!! Thanks for that. Brings back memories. Depending on what was being machined, we'd get a job done, then throw it out the East wall window onto the grass outside. After work, we'd walk around to the side of the building and pick up our stuff!!!!
