650 plus high torque pullers ls or lt Hello everyone first time posting I’m looking for info or recipes to build a 650 hp high torque ls or lt for a pulling motor. Here’s the kicker stock block and heads and na or at least stock appearing lol. I’ve talked to several builders on l8t builds just not much info just speculation. It will not be used on the road so compression not a issue e85 fine just 300 ft and shut down Thanks

What are you competing against? 510 cubic inches is a lot more than you'll get out of a 454 or 468 which is the biggest you'll get out of a stock deckheight LS. If you're going to be competing against 510 cube big blocks you're barking up a more expensive and difficult tree with the LS.

Thanks for reply your absolutely right I’ve built dozens of bb but I like to be different top truck in this class is built by our one machinist 496 low dollar internals never been on dyno in a heavy old drivetrain

Once your heads are decent, torque is a function of cubic inches. Also a 468ci LS will cost many times what a 468ci big block costs, let alone a 510.

You’ll end up spending $27k to try and run with a big block here. You are simply too limited to run with the big dogs in this class, with an LS. I’d go big block. A 510 BB isn’t hard to build and will be cheaper to do than say a 468 LS, that won’t perform like a BB will, in a pulling class. You can find good used Big Block parts for cheap if you look around. 1000 ft lbs is easy with the right build.
