Default Ly6 6.0 VVT lifters question
I have an 09 LY6 with 1(yes1) mile on it. It has VVT but not AFM. Can the lifters be reused if I swap in a non VVT cam? This engine will be carburetor. Thanks.

You can re-use the LY6 lifters. The AFM (DOD) lifters are the ones that you’ll want to throw in the trash, which you don’t have. One mile huh? Been sitting in a climate controlled environment I hope for the last 15 years.

Yes, indoors unfer the hood of my Chevelle project. I thought I read somewhere that the LY6 got the AFM lifters despite only having VVT?

On a couple of LS projects I used a 2010 and 2012 L92's. Deleted the VVT and reused the the VVT lifters. 220/225 .600 lift cam and no issues on either project.

I had an ‘08 LY6. Went through it and experimented with Mast VVT camshafts. Used the same set of LY6 GM lifters throughout. Basically an LS7 lifter. I loved the VVT fwiw.
