The famed CHEVELLE (AKA LUMINA SS here in MidEast)

I didnt see the article and couldnt find a pic on the net, im just hoping it doesnt look like a lumina. Cause that would be weak.

I read that the SSR will also get the LS2. My feeling is that sales on the GTO and SSR were less than expected, and a last minute decision was made to use the LS2 to give them more appeal.

more then likely yes, but i think it would come down after the hype and since it seems they are sticking it in everything with a v8 platform it should be common like the LS1 if not more.

speculation at this point but something to ponder. hopefully it won't hit 35K already a little pricey IMHO.

One of our staff members got to test drive the LS2 mule GTO and they also dyno tested it. 350 rwhp bone stock. That is going to be a fun car to play with

Not really 400 rating 350RWHP thats less than a 15% drivetrain loss. If you figured only a 15% drivetrain loss that'd make the actual FWHP closer to 410
Sounds like it's right on par.

AS far as the lumina SS, WTF??? why not make it a cavalier ss. Ill never understand the overseas marketing strategy. Seriously, monte carlo or impala wouldnt have worked better?

The look of the current GTO I would have to say is as simple as a shortened production schedule so just putting the tradmark pontiac split nose grille on a holden monaro. since the rest of it looks basically identical to holden. It's not an original pontiac design so I wouldn't have expected it to be very pontiac looking. Also for where the car was targeted I think outrageous looks and cladding would have hurt it further.

More or less true to the original GTO. Understated Styling good powerplant under the hood.

Great news. I think GM was forced into a box, however, as a result of very dissapointing sales figuers for the first year new GTO. I read a trade publication that says they have 190 days of inventory and that unit sales have been 1/3 of what they had forecast. The article said people think the price is too high and the styling looks too much like a Honda Civic...

Pontiac has even started doing radio and TV advertising for the GTO which is also surprising...

What's even more odd to me is that the Cadillac (the flagship division) CTS-V is still going to use the LS6, while the newer version is in the GTO? Really strange.
According to Car and Driver, next year the CTS-V is getting a modified version of the LS2(probably the new Z06 motor) making around 500hp, to take on the new 500hp M5. The STS-V AND SRX-V are getting supercharged versions of the northstar making around 425hp. The LS1 and LS6 I believe have already been phased out of production, they've just been using the stockpile of motors they have left.

Maybe they should cut production like they did with our beloved f-bodies. Or maybe if they stop screwing around and make this thing AWD more people will buy it for a daily driver?!? I just can't see people buying this thing with its tame looks and using it for a weekend car.

Not really, the 03 still has an LS1 under the hood and we all know how simple it would be to modify those to kick the crap out of a stock 350 rwhp LS2. They can hit 350 with just bolt-ons, and if they do a cam swap they will hit 370+ rwhp.
