6.2 dented cylinder - can it be sleeved
I rolled the dice on a L92 long block core.
Turned out it grenaded a piston. The rod is intact with the pin still in it.
But it put about a 1/4" deep dent halfway down the bore.
Can this probably be welded and sleeved? With the price of blocks now I'd think it is still a lot cheaper. Takeouts are $4k in my area.
Asking before I drive an hour to a shop for an inspection.

Hi, sure I made engines (the Viper V-10).
My MAIN products were ECUs and Ignition Coils
MY customers asked for a strong crankcase boost ready.
I engineered a "stepped sleeve" for LS engines AND it was PROUD.
Thus I "saved" many.

Unless you're gonna do all 8 for whatever reason, it'll likely cost more to sleeve that ONE, than to just pick up another trashed-out work truck L92 block that DOESN'T need that sort of thing.
Even though I realize, you're in Texas, and trucks are far and few between around there, butt I think if you're patient, one will show up soon enough.
Just because it CAN be done doesn't automatically jump you to the conclusion that it SHOULD be done, let alone, that it's the BEST way of dealing with the situation.

The days of finding a 6.2 in a work truck are long gone. I spend a lot of time building block inventory and man are blocks getting hard to find. I’m going tomorrow to pick up a couple 6.2 blocks that fell in my lap…only 2 I’ve came across this entire year that weren’t priced at stupid crazy numbers.
Thanks guys
Been working 7 days and forgot about this.
Take out 6.2's are $4k here.
So $600 for a long block was worth the risk.
Heads are usually 4-600 here.
I'll take it to a shop over the winter and see what they say.
I'd prefer to not ship it to TSP if I don't have to.
