How is the 4l65e holding up. How much RWHP is your car putting out.

a 4l65e is beefed version of the 4l60..65 has heavy duty input/output shafts, 5 pinion planets, and heavy duty shell..if you know how to build trannys you can buy the parts and put them in a 60....
4l60/65e is electronic it has no vaccum modulator

FYI...It is a very poor idea to purchase trannies based on somebody's horsepower claim. Horsepower has very little to do with auto trannies and how they hold up. Get a input torque rating on the tranny before you make decisions, that is the number that actually means something.

GM has been building BMW's auto's since BMW started offering automatics in the late 80's. I believe they were variants of the TH350.

If memory serves the 5L40E, at least in the beemers, weighed ~250lbs. I can't say that I remember the exact weight of the 4L60 and 4L80, but I'm guessing the four speeds are much lighter than that.

GM should start thinking about putting a five speed auto in the C6. It would make a hell of a difference.

200r-4..........weak compared to the 700r-4, 700 is pretty much a 4l60.

4l60 is pretty much a th350 w/ overdrive, same gear ratios
4l80 is pretty much a th400 w/ overdrive, same gear ratios

right about the 400-4L80, wrong about the 350-4L60.

TH-350...

1st = 2.52:1
2nd = 1.52:1
3rd = 1:1

700-R4/4L60/4L65(E)...

1st = 3.06:1
2nd = 1.62:1
3rd = 1:1
4th = .70:1
