The 2006 Z06 will still be called a Z06 not a Z07 (but the engine in the new z06 will be called an LS7 motor). Also, for my money the biggest cubes in my opinion that the LS7 motor will be is 6.4 liters and the most power we can hope for is 500 ponies at the crank (and yes, all because GM still wants to play second fiddle to MOPAR with its big cubed and powered 502c.i.VIPER MOTOR)!!! GM needs to step up to the plate b/c they have been behind MOPAR ever since the dam VIPER cam out in 93 or 94!!!!

Werd.
That is exactly what I have heard.
zo6-ls7-'bout 6.4-24 valves-'bout 500 ponies

Now the Blue Devil on the other hand, that is where, if it happens, the 7.0 liter will be.

I guess that shoots down the WRONG INFO that I was getting. 575 hp 427. Maybe I will just keep the SS and do a little more upgrading to the motor and I will be right there.

whats the Blue Devil?
The blue devil is a sub-3000 pound C6 chassis Corvette running a 7.0 liter making anywhere from 700 to 725 horsepower with a cost of $100k+. If it is produced at all, it'll be several years after the 2006 Z06.

I believe the Viper is better personally, although you have to add in the price factor got to bless the Corvette there, for just alittle more you'll take down the V10 and taking down the big boys even stock now with the C6. Blue Devil I want to see pictures of too though friend told me about it.

I would like to know more about this supposed blue devil also. GM has done a fine job with the z06. It may not have the hp or the cubes that the viper has but it does everyhting better then the viper.

I heard the Blue Devil was "only" getting 625hp...

Then again, that was quite a few months ago.

Think about 500HP in a 3400-3500 lbs car vs a 500HP car that weighs 3000 lbs. Thats not second fiddle to a Viper. 600-700HP in a sub 3000 lb car is better than 650 in a 3500-3700 lb car. That is on par with any of the Supercars on the planet.

I just checked the Dodge website, and it says the Viper SRT-10 has a curb weight of only 3380 lbs. Thats crazy, how can such a huge car, with a huge engine, and huge wheels weigh less than 3400 lbs? must be made of foam.

The latest magazine I read said that chevy was unable to reach the 500hp mark so instead they reduced the new Z06's weight by 300#s. That means it will weigh under 3000#s.

With all the info I have, it will be a 6.6l motor. Which is 405ci I believe.

It will be 500hp or better, fairly well torque biased. Plus the Z06 will be way lighter than the Viper, so I don't see that being a problem.
