Question Stroker LS2 ???

Ok, I've looked thru the search functions and I'm still pretty confused. I'm looking to put togehter a new LS2 block and stroke it with a differnt crank, rods, pistons.
My question(s): What bore would I need to go to with the LS2 block.
What legnth of rod.
What size piston (planning on a Procharger for boost)
I know these are common questions but I am in the hunt for parts and have seen some really decent deals out there (995.00 for a new LS2...WOW)
I just don't want to start buying things up, then realize I have a bunch of missmatched parts.
I already have a 6.0 crank and am wondering if I could use this with the LS2...what would it size out to be motor wise.
The motor buildup is going to be for a strickly race 02 SS. Weight should be around 3100 and I am wanting to run consistent 10 sec. times with decent reliability. Auto car w/ 4500 stall, 9 inch wih ?? gears, stripper car, glass hood, doors, hatch, BMR tubular front.
I appreciate any advice.

Kev

I'd go with a 4" crank.

For FI, you want compression 9:1 or less.

Also, wait for a sponsor or someone else do it first, so you know what works and what doesn't

Then buy from them to show your appreciation for their R & D.

Do you find a balanced and assembled forged 402 iron block stroker for $3600 to be too expensive? I agree it's not 100% proven, but it has some good potential!

He wants a 3100 lb race weight.

I don't think the iron SLP engine will help that.

The cost of the actual LS2 block is only about $250-$500 more than the iron 6.0L version... it should be very intersting to see if the LS2 swap is as simple as the iron block swap!

No, SLP in general too much, ALWAYS fwhp rated, and rarely delivers that!

The LS2 block is a very nice block at a 4.00 bore. Anything LS1/LS6 related will work in this block less the cam sprocket, front cover, cam sensor, and knock sensors. You will have to use all the LS2 stuff for that. You will also need the LS2 timming chain. I would use a 6.125 rod (Crower or Lunati)with a .927 pin. As for a set of pistons, we can set you up with a set of JE custom pistons and put your compression anywere you need it! At 995.00 plus a little freight you can't go wrong!! Let me know if I can help!!

The stock 6.0 crank is the same as the stock 5.7 crank. Its only like 3.62 inches. So with that crank and and LS2 you could only get 364ci/6.0L. You'll need a different crank if you want more than 6.0 Liters.

Could you please price me out an assembled LS2 block based on Eagles 402CI rotating assembly (stock bore)? I am looking for the equivalent of SLP's $3600 402CI Iron Block except in an aluminum block... Thanks

We would be happy to build you a 402 short block using the LS2 block!! A quick ruff estimate is around $3,800.00. That is the aluminum LS2 block, Eagle balanced rotating assembly in the crate ready to ship. Let me know if I can help!!

I am definitely interested. Does that include the LS2 timing chain and cam sprocket as well as the different knock sensors the LS2 uses.

I blew the motor in my 98 Camaro 1LE track car last week. Haven't pulled it apart yet by I am getting 100% leakdown in #7 with air out the dip stick, so I figure I busted a piston

In fact I think you would make a hit by pricing the 402 short block ready to go in an FBod or C5 along with a list of the parts your experience shows is necessary to make the swap.

I am running 5.2 truck heads from TEA. I assume the normal head gaskets (which are what part nos?) will work. Can I reuse my TR 224 cam and the hardened pushrods?

3800$ blows away the way most folks are going about this. But the devil is always in the details and the first sponsor to get on this bandwagon and do it right will set themselves up as the LS2 expert.

Will the LS1 accessories, water pump ect bolt up to this? If not what would be the price of a shortblock ready to bolt the heads on and go.

Yes the water pump and most of the other Acc will bolt right on. As KJ stated the sensors and the cover as the differences.

Thanks Nate. I would rather not have the extra weight of an iron block. This seems to be a great setup. Add a set of AFR 225 and you would have a great combo.

I don't think we will see them under 4K... but we will be seeing them under 5K... and that is still a great deal!
