why do you think itll be the LS7 if it's in a race car? there's already been documentation out stating it's gonna be a 6.4 ???

That old RPO list that you're refering to appears to be outdated. There have been credible reports floating around for some time now insisting that the engine targets were not being reached with the 6.4L, hence the move to 7.0L.

for THAT car, they would not allow the full 7 liter. It was dominant as it was, think what it would do if it had another 8 tenths of stroke

Not really a C5R. LS7 Joel They are similar in many ways, but definately not a C5R.

I think that's a Ron Davis radiator. I guess you could call it a water to air intercooler.

Oh boy, will there be some great parts floating around in a few months. Anyone wondering how they were running 7900rpms with a valvetrain that fits under those stock appearing valve covers?

Thanks for the clarification Louis

Looks like my LS6 motor will be replaced by an LS7.

Any ideas when I'll be able to buy forged internals for the LS7???

it could be a c5r block, but to me looking at that completely motor setup , that could very much be the ls7. correct me i am wrong but the c5r motor didnt have the new style GM throttle body on it and the crazy looking intake..

True, but if anyone could make the Ls2 parts work on a C5-R block, it would be them. I'm not convinced, until someone posts a pic of a C5-R block that is visually different. Although, the knock sensor could be a clue....

Its not a C5r block.

The heads are LS7 guys, different valvecovers as well. They Look the same, but they are not. Dont assume anything with this motor.

This is GM that is doing all of this. They can make anything happen.

Ill dig up some part numbers for you guys.

I've got another pic of the casting number of the block, and it definitely isn't a C5R. It's a crappy pic, but I can see 1257xx4x. That agrees with the numbers published here at the World Challenge site. In the same pic you can also see the 7.0L on the back of the block.

its a different version of the C5R block, its re sleeved and restroked to a 356 or somewhere about there emphasising revs. the 7.0l is from the base C5R block. that may be a new intake manifold, but the C5R already has rectangular ports.
