Default LS7 Question

I know that a lot of peple are really firm on the LS7 being a 7.0L, but isn't it true that a car can have only a certain size engine before it wont pass emissions. I know trucks are an exception, but I heard a 427 would not be smog legal. I know lots of people get away with no cats, big cams, and big motors, but that is because the inspectors either let it go, or don't know. Not to mention, the lift of a cam can't be any bigger than .550 in Texas and California (not sure on that, only heard it through the grape vine). How sad would it be to have little bitch cam in a motor like that? I just thought that should be brought up for discussion. I have to lean towards a 6.4 because 7.0L is just too big. Believe me, I would love a 427, but I just can't see it. What do you'll think?

I have not heard or seen any proof on this. I might believe this in cali, however TX has very loose emissions. Certain counties in and around Houston are going to start cracking down (when exactly...Im not sure...I'm sure that it will be a gradual thing). And by loose, I mean that it is not enforced by the state, aside from CATS.

I know I've read it somewhere about a cam being bigger than that is not smog legal, but I can't remember where. Maybe not it Texas, but fore sure in Cali.

If a 7.0L were too big to pass emmissions, then Vipers would be screwed because the first gen Vipers had 8.0L V10's and now they run 8.3L V10's. So it is possible for a larger motor to pass emmissions, just takes a little more restriction probably.

I was thinking of the 8.3L viper as well. Hey if the 7.0L came with a small cam for emmisions sake -how easy is it to put in a monster cam...very

Think about it like this. What would make about 550bhp with less effort? A 6.4 liter or a 7.0 liter? Big engines can be emissions friendly and are can be better for making more power under emission regulations. It's seems easier to get just as much or more power from more displacement than from a smaller engine with more horsepower goodies.

Emissions is all in the percentage of bad to good. Total amount of exhaust gas is irrelevant.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
