ls7 pricing what would yall estimate the price for an ls7 will be once its released? if its pushing 500hp, i will be very interested. i assume it will use the same mounts as the ls1, but would it be worth it to wait for the ls7 cost wist than going ahead and getting a 408 or even a 427 now?

but my question is, do you think the GM pricing for the engine will be worth waiting for or should i just get a 408 or 427 motor now? i dont want to wait for the ls7 to some out and then find out the engine is going to cost twice as much as i could have had one made for.

Wait until you see the GM price, then make the decision.

wow. how much would it cost to build an aluminum 427 long block? i know iron is much cheaper, isnt $10,000 pretty cheap?
(btw the ls7 will be aluminum, correct?)

I would not go with an SLP 402. Look into an APE 408, or HPE 408 they are very reasonably priced, and you actually know what parts are in the motor. Definitely worth the extra $$$ for me.

Are you in a hurry or just curious? I suppose I would just wait and see if I was in your shoes. I'm still skeptical about the new SLP block just because it is so cheap and not that much is known about it. Like black_z said, if you go with a sponsor you know what's in the motor. Do you plan on running FI, Nitrous, or NA? I hope to turbo my car soon...

just curious. Ive been playing the lottery alot lately, so just planning ahead 
really though, I havent decided what i want to do with my car yet. I was looking at the new roots style blower thats comming out soon, it looks promising. I also am really impressed with the 408's comming out, and IMO its not worth the extra money to get a 427. If it does come down to a new block though, i was just curious if it would be worth it to save for the aluminum ls7 or just get an iron 408, good for over 500hp to the wheels.

Now that the ls2 block is available, someone will start combing 4" rotating assemblies with the ls2 any time now. Price should be a little higher than SLP is charging, if you want a good rotating assembly. I am guessing $4500, maybe a little more? The tuner shops are going to have a hard time charging $20k for a 427 if 402+ is available installed for half that.
