Default 853 heads

Will my stage two ported 853 heads with 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves bolt right up or do I need to open up the combustion chambers to then new larger bore? My heads flow 308 cfm at .650 299 @ .600 are these a good match to the 402 short block?

Theyre a far cry from optimum, IMHO, but they may work for a while. Youll have to figure out what youre compression ratio will be according to your CC volumes. Youre missing out on bigger unshrouded valves, a smoother bore to CC transition, and less than perfect quench space if you need to run thicker gaskets to tame down your compression. How much all this will cost you in HP? I couldnt tell you...

308 @ .650 is very nice! True there are other heads out there that flow bigger #'s, but depending on what you want to do they will work fine. You could open up the chamber a small bit for a little hp gain, but if it were me I would just run them like they are and save the money. Down the road you could use the money saved to upgrade to a better head. Give me a call or pm if I can help with anything. We would for sure like to see you get into one of our short blocks!

KJ, I sent you an email earlier today, couple questions about this setup. I'm exploring my options since I grenaded 2 pistons on my LS1 last week.

I'm spent out... So I have to keep my costs down, for this go-around, so I'll be looking at reusing my 5.7 heads and LS6 intake for now. But I think I'll have to step up on the cam, my current one is a 224/228 .581/.588 115. Might be a little light for this setup. Plus I have to get my valves checked and probably have the exhaust turbine replaced on my turbo. blah...

Anyway, the questions were about the suitability of the 5.7 heads (TEA Stage 1.5 on a 241 casting), expected compression ratio with those heads (they had minimal milling), payment methods, and current lead times. And now I'm throwing the cam question in there too.

Thanks!

Hey KJ, I sent you a PM as well. I was wanting to know if my shortblock would be delivered this week. I was told that it was being balanced last week.
Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

We are close on your short block. We had a couple of customs that we needed to finnish, and it took us a little longer than expected to do so. They are now finnished & shipped, so I hope by the end of this week or first of next we will be ready to ship yours. Thank you for your patience, and I will pm you as soon as it's ready

From time of order we try to have them ready to ship in three to four weeks at the most. We have 5 of them being built for stock with eagle cranks & Crower Sportsman rods. Two are spoken for so, I have three left. Those should be done in a week or so!!

I agree ... I have one of these on the way and have been waiting for almost a month now for someone to post something.

Kris, if you read this, can you let me know when my engine is shipping? Coming on 3 weeks now.

Thanks.

I have talked to a few people that have there motors up and running but would like to see some dyno #'s also. We have been planning to build a complete motor & dyno it, but we have been super busy trying to get our customers taken care of. I don't recal any of the specs, but I did have one of my customers call me and say he made 518 to the ground! If I remember correctly It is a flat top motor (11.1 to 1), stage 3 heads, with a bump stick close to 246 @ .050 (not sure of the exact cam). I will try to get motor dyno'd soon & post some #'s.
