Even if the cost of this car is 70K-80K USD, it's a hell of a bargain compared to its counterparts with equivalent HP. 427ci? Did someone say that the corvette started to seriously lift weights again? It's looking great for its age, slim yet plenty of muscle. Even though I am still somewhat a fan of the ZR1, one interesting fact that if the Z06 is indeed priced around this range, it would even prove a greater bargain than when the ZR1 debuted.
If this is really what's in store, then GM has outdone Ford IMHO. It appears to have successfully combined the best of the new and old.
BTW for the person who posted those pics. Did you grow up your whole life in toronto? I am a transplant from Winnipeg, MB.

Sweet car, won't be as fast as the Ford GT (even mags got that car to trap around 130, never seen one at the track though) but I can only imagine what some simple bolt-ons would do to that car..let alone a cam or some F/I to make use some of that forged stuff

What's even more intriguing to me, though, is the potential for this engine with only minor mods. If the info that we've got is correct then I don't see why cam and bolt-ons shouldn't get us another 100hp fairly easily. Now, THAT will be a badass car (600fwhp and 3000lbs )

Joe posted the right intake valve size. 56mm is correct.
With running a 4' stroke at these rpms, given the OE standard of making it bullet proof 2x over, they are using a lightweight rod/piston assembly.
As far as the GT goes, they make ~ 530-550 to the wheels right off the showroom floor. That is a big challenge to say the least. I will make my mind up when I get my hands on a new Z

Any photoshop experts want to look at the engine pic? I swear the 7.0L on the fuel rail cover looks photoshopped. There are distortions around it, doesnt look right. Not saying it wont come with it, but that picture definitely looks retouched.
