Well the reason for the high number is the raised runner (also a bigger port). So the short side is awesome. I don't think its people blowing the number up or making it seem better then what it is. When people start bolting these heads and intakes to there big cube motors records wil be shattered. Might see a big cube NA car go 8's some day. these heads just keep getting better, I mean a first gen sbc head flowing 300cfm@600 lift is a big deal, not on ls-1/6 head though. Now imagine with a hand finish on thes heads, the leading head guys will be fast approching 400cfm with a port thats not too big for 427 c.i. Allthough it will be too much for the smaller cube motors unless spun to the sky.

I dont think 8's NA will be far ahead. Joe Overton probably will break that barrier next spring with a 15* headed LT1, and that setup won't have/need 400cfm or 400ci to accomplish it. I dont see an LSX needing those numbers either.
I may be wrong, but we'll just have to wait and see.

MAN you guys kill me. Use your heads on some of this BS. GM is playing games here.
Guess what, the Ford GT is rated at 550 bhp, yet for some odd reason they make 550 to the WHEELS.
GM has to catch this car. This is their new target. To do that, they added hp and removed weight.
The LS7 has 2.2" intake valves. 56mm to be exact.
The ports are like C5R, this does not mean that they, the heads, are like a C5R. If you have seen a C5R, you will know that you must run a C5R valve cover, Jesel rockers, and so on. We are talking OEM GM here, not race cases and Endurance race motor equipment here.
You look at an LS7, and you cannot tell with out looking at the casting numbers from the way the head looks. They look like a standard LSx casting with the mani and valve covers bolted on.
I dont doubt that this motor will purr like a kitten, and yet still pump out 450-475 to the wheels.
