Well that would be awesome and if thats the case then this is 500 RWHP and not 500 Crank HP

So all we need is a cam swap and headers?

So the LS7 has a new block, crank, and heads. Is the bore spacing the same as an LS1/LS2? Its great that GM is now going to have a factor big bore block, high flow heads and 4" crank. But are these parts directly compatible with the other motors?

With the "hand made" touch these motors are getting, I'm scared of the crate motor pricetag.

I have been told by someone with some inside connections to expect 475-ish to the wheels (stock). On one hand, that seems pretty optimistic, but on the other hand, we ARE talking about an 11:1 427 with some pretty friggin' beefy heads and a pretty good sized (lift-wise, anyhow) cam. I'd be willing to bet that the intake side of the cam is somewhere in the 225-230 area @ .050, but I think it'll have a pretty good lobe sep (like, 115+) for idle quality/emissions; all of that is pure speculation, BTW.

Dude you were right. LS7 heads flow 43% more than LS6 heads so in the 370 range. Thats unreal

Probably the 2002 - 2004 Z06 cam with 1.8 rockers.

All of this makes me think back to when I saw an episode of "My Classic Car" (I think that's the title) on Speedvision that showed the prototype TigerShark. I guess all of this has been in the works for a long time. Anyone think GM can surprise us again?

I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that it has forged pistons.

This is a point of great debate right now since the GM literature contradicts itself. Previous indications were that the pistons will be cast, not forged. Forged pistons were supposedly dropped due to concerns over cold start noise (after the LS1 cold start fiasco). I hope they are forged, but I think the references we see to that are erroneous.

well i wnat to know when of these monster units will be sold as crate engines and how much you guys recon they will cost?
One of the GM performance parts places online showed the LS7 (crate motor) listed as being available in the fall. No price shown yet of course. I would guess around $10k

The crank is set up for driving the dry sump pumps so unless you go this route with the same front cover and camshaft set-up I don't think that the 4" crank is directly interchangeable.

no one saw that it has 56mm (2.20") intake valves? even the biggest aftermarket valve is only a 2.08"... 2.20" is damn huge... as for cam size, i'd guess a 218/230 on a 116... we know the lift is .591 with 1.8 rockers...
