Default Z06 vert?

Just watching the primetime sneak peek of NAIAS, and the reporters indicated that the corvette under the cover was the new Z06 and this one was a convertible. Anyone know if it's true? They also showed the shop where the new handbuilt engine is made, it's also where you can go to watch them build YOUR engine.....I think it's time for a lotto binge.

I hope they DON'T make a convertible Z06...

I know what you guys are saying but I think a convertible would help sales, and hey, with the history of the 427 vettes the most popular were the verts. If the other exotics have verts why shouldn't Z06 vettes have em?

Not going to happen folks (vert Z06), but for 1/2 the price you can buy my 98 C5 427 MTI Built 427 C5R, making 125 more HP and torque with brand new point and shoot FLP LEVEL 5 A3 Tranny, and all at the great price of $37,500. Nothing like being able to BITCH SLAP the new 6 Z06, all while getting a suntan with the top off!!!

For that price, you can buy 5 CRXs, and run 9s while pulling 1.2 g's on the skid pad... I know which I'd rather have.

It's the same drill... you can modify anything to make it faster than a stock car...

I'll never be terribly impressed by a heavily modified car beating up on a stock car. Who cares what a C5 can do with mods? We all know it can destroy a stock C6 Z06 when done right. I'd rather have a bone stock C6 Z06 running in the 11s than a heavily modified C5 running in the 9s.

like you would keep the C6 stock.

one of the main points and pleasures of this hobby are modding stock cars to make them perform better. id rather have a modded up C5 that runs nines(granted that im the one that modded it) than a stock C6 running 11s. but now, alas, im stuck with my Z that runs 13s, but hopefully it will at least be in the 12s by the time i make it to the track.

Caravaggio...

And I believe there was actually a Z06 vert made at the factory, I think it was built for Dave Hill himself.

No, I would't keep it stock either... but I would rather start with the best car first and then mod that.

You're right about modding being a big part of this hobby... but one of the things that really bugs me about my WS6 - is that if I had my car and a C5 next to each other, and I did the same mods on each one of them - the C5 would always be faster. Not only would it be faster, but it would handle better and look hotter as well... Next time around, i am starting with the better car in the beginning.

I guarantee that mod for mod the C6 Z06 blows away the C5 Z06.

yeah, but its all about what youve got, and what you will do with it. and whos really gonna go mod for mod with someone? im happy with what ive got, and i hope to be tearing up a few C6's hopefully in the next year.

and IMO your WS6 looks better than a C5 anyway.

If money isn't an issue, that's easily the way to go. For most of us though, money is always an issue, and it has always been cheaper to make an F-bod faster than a C5 for less money than a C5. Handling may be another issue, but if straight line is what you want, and money is an issue, it's tough to beat an LS1 F-bod.

Theres a company down here in south florida he does convertible conversions for Z06's. Its around $12-$13,000. There was no way in HELL that was a Z06 vert. LOOK AT THE WHEELS, GUYS!!! I dont think chevrolet will ever make a vert. Z06 and i hope they never do.

I highly doubt GM will come out with a ZO6 convert.

Dave Hill himself said there will never be a Z06 Vert under his watch in an interview once...and I doubt he is quitting/leaving anytime soon...

Carravaggio has converted plenty of Z06s to verts. I believe GMMG has converted 2 over to verts. The conversion is not hard just takes lots of $$.
