Default New Z06... 12.0 in the quarter

Today i read the new Motor Trend ( i think thats what it was) and they showed that the new Z06 ran a 12.0 (in the quarter of course). I was kind of disappointed but then thought about it.....the new Z06 has GOT to be an 11 sec. car cuz thats what they all said. I dont think it would be too hard getting that thing into the 11's with a decent driver. Im sure better times will show up though. And yes i do know that magazines are mostly bullshit.

****Also featured in the mag was the new 440 horse 4.4(litre Quad cam) North-Star supercharged STS-V. It just blows the **** out of my mind at how far Caddilac has come over the past 2 years. Its amazing. The new STS-V in the mag ran a 13.0. Of course, that car prolly wasnt even broken in yet. And can u imagine what a chip, pully, and exhuast will do? The cobra guys wont be talking about "bigger displacement" anymore when they get run down by a 4285 pound caddilac. 4300lb caddy with a 440horse engine. Doesnt that put the STS-V at around 400 horses at the rear wheels?

Those mags always seem about .2 slower than average. Wow! 440hp caddy! I want one. Lets see KB make a conversion of a screw for that. Now that would be cool. A 700hp caddy blowing the doors off Vipers. WIIIIIIIIII!!!

Subtract .15 as a rough average for rwhp.

Wrong. General rule of thumb for fbodies is that manuals lose 15% of their crank hp to drivetrain loss, while Autos lose about 20%. IRS cars lose more than that which the caddy is.

I'd be willing to wager you're going to lose somewhere between 20-25% hp via drivetrain loss in this car. I bet it dynoes from 330rwhp-350rwhp.

I have always heard 15 and 18-20 also. But if it holds true with the past, it is probably underated and I would probably guess it will do 390-400 to the wheels. That would be one awesome Cadillac.

As far as the Z06, in the habds of a good driver I am guessing 11.6-7.

Most reports I've read are claiming the new ZO6 will run low 11s.

In the hands of skilled drivers the new Z06 will be very close to, if not in, the 10's. Hell, the C5 Z06 is an 11 second car from the factory.

A 4300 lb luxury car running 13 seconds flat with 330-350rwhp? I don't know, seems rather unlikely to me.

Maybe you have been to other tracks then I have. I havent seen any STOCK 01-04 Z06s hit 11's in the quarter. You sure as hell arent going to see an 05 hit 10's, thats crazy talk man.

Talk to J-Rod, he's gone 11.78 in a 100% showroom stock 2002 Z06. he went 11.5's with just a tire. The new Z06 will run 10's in the right hands.

Theres no way the caddy has 330-350 RWHP. Its a 4300lb car!!!. Id say 390-400rwhp at the least for the STS-v.

*****O and the mph for the Z06 (C6 2006) was 119mph.

C&D has tested a new ZO6 and they had it at 11.7 at 127 Thats some awsome MPH from the factory with a warranty!

That was an estimated time. I think it will go 10's with a tire and an insane driver (J-Rod)

I definatly think 10's are a tire swap away...GMHTP ran a 11.9x in a bone stock 04' but thats just me.

Ranger On CF was the first to run 11's in a stock 04 ZO6, with the right skill i can defiantely see 10's if the car is traping 127

Exactly. Some of you guys have to read the articles and not just look at the pictures. All of the articles popping up regarding the ZO6 are largely based on the GM press info and their own speculation - this goes for price info too. No mags have gotten their hands on a C6 ZO6 yet to test and you probably won't see any firsthand numbers until mid-year.

The new Z will run 10's. Mine ran 11.656@117 on ET Streets and 12.2@118 on radials stock, hell first weekend i got the car it ran 12.50's with no seat time. Plus this at the crap tracks we have up here in Canada. Ranger from CF forum and Z06 vette has gone 11.50's@121 with just an airfilter and DR's-it's all about how u drive it!
