Default power adder

Anyone have any ides as to the possibility of supercharging the GTO LS2? The reason I'm asking is because the comp. ratio is so high. So I guess run a timing retard, lower deg. thermostat, high octane gas...? Would it run on pump premium? If my car was automatic I'd be interested in a turbo. But with th manual I figure I can pick my boost level with the gear shifter.

Just like supercharging a 2005 LS2 vette (10.9:1) or 2001-2004 LS6 vette (10.5:1), you might want to run a bit less boost than a 10.1:1 LS1. Did you buy it from Bill McCurley?

you can always pick up a set of heads that would lower the SCR. wouldn't 317 castings from the 6.0L fit? that'd go a long way towards compression reduction.

What was the reason for the bump in compression on the LS2, smaller chamber or different piston?

243 castings - smaller chamber LS6 heads. From what I've read in posts, the heads and cam are from the 2001 LS6 setup without the hollow valves and smaller camshaft design. Suprised they didn't use the 2002-2004 setups, but....

I am pretty sure I read the LS2 had 10.9:1 SCR, I will have to check and verify.

Yes April 05 Vette Volume 29, #4, page 29 is my source.

You are right.

COMPARISON BETWEEN THE CORVETTE LS-1, LS-6 CORVETTE ENGINES, AND THE LS2

I am pretty sure that you can get a bigger chambered truck head I will look and see if my mag lists the CC size for the LS2. The LS7 has a 70cc CC but it is stroked and bored which would make SCR higher than a 6.0 engine would be.

That and the fact that they will be 12 degree heads, which would require a different intake, and setup for a 4.125 bore. Not quite setup for an LS1 when he just wants to drop compression. #317's will do just fine.

You are correct, I did read that as well but forgot about the degree being different...that could be a small issue.
