Maybe not if you believe some of the quotes from GM:

A recent quote from Mark Reuss, Head of GM Performance Division.
On the Colorado...
The Colorado. The Colorado we did this last year [for the dream cruise] was, again, a hot version of this that would be absolutely produceable. And in fact, the reason why we did this was we did not know how to package a V8 in a 355 architechure. We only had the I-5. And so this whole exersize was to determine whether we could actually put a V-8 into this architechure, load it and produce it, and in fact we can.
The truck he is referring to is the blue one from Woodward with the 420HP 6.2L L92 V8.

The SS concept from SEMA was was developed with production parts to see how viable it could be on an assembly line. All that it need for brand new non-off-the-shelf parts was engine mounts. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/auto...oss/page1.html

Ive gotta Colorado Z71 4x4 that i had Yank build me a 3500 2.8 STR stall for. Other than that i just have a K&N intake and gibson exhaust on it. The thing runs pretty damn good with that loose stall converter, deffinatley a "jenna jamieson" model converter they got me. But 4x4 launches flashed to about 2500 let me hold off modded WRX's accross intersections.... The thing prolly runs low 15s maybe a high 14 cuz it 60 foots so decent from what i can guage from what i ran so far.

A Colorado with an LS2 would be awesome and probably would sell pretty well. Based on those two factors, GM definitely won't produce it IMO.

It's going to happen. Yes it can be done easily. The Trailblazer EXT has had a 5.3 in it for 2 years. The engine bay is the same. Also since the SSR sits on the Trailblazer frame, they knew the 5.3 would fit. Now for 05, the SSR got the LS2 6.0 pretty nice, but still under powered for the type of truck it is. I think the V8 in the Colorado/Trailblazer will be a niche thing, like the Syclones and Typhoons.

I would definetely be interested in swapping in an LSx motor...There are companies that are currently fabin up a turbo and supercharger for these trucks...They are in the early phases, but power after FI looks like it will be baseline numbers for an LS1 motor...Throw some heads on there and a cam and u will be flyin...Also the truck weighs 3,520 with me in it...

I've heard some rumblings from some GM people about a Hummer H-3 that we know is based on the Colorado platform and apparently some mention was made of a turbocharged 3.5 5 cylinder putting out 300 hp. That sounds interesting......maybe the Spearco guys might know about this????

My dad works at the Shreveport, La GM plant where they build the colorodo and they are saying it will be a 4.8 or a turbo charged I-5. They are building the hummer3 there also and the I-5 is not enough power. They are going to do this.

4.8L.....Nice. That'll make a bigger engine swap REAL easy.

Good info, thanks.

That would be cool, but just watch GM screw this one up to. Believe me, I am a GM fan, but, who asked for an extended cab full size SS? Is the Lightning extended cab? NO. Why didn't they just put a potent 6.0 in a regular cab 1500 and make that an SS. No they gave us the SSR, yeah that is selling great. Who asked for the Aztec? GM definitely fails at one thing, giving what the public asks for. Unfortunately Ford is the only one who listens to the public and builds what they ask for. GM, uhh here's your SSR, and for you Camaro Firebird guys, here's our Cobalt.... Guess GM is now only trying to offer horsepower in their Cadillacs.
