Default Vortec 5.7 VS. 5.7 LS1

Does anyone know what the difference is?? Are these motors parts interchangeable? I have a 98' LS1 in my Trans am and need a bottom end and was wondering if I could use parts off of a vortec motor? The vortec is complete. I know that the coil packs and valve cover bolts and heads are a little different from my 98' to the new motors (which this vortec is). Would I be able to take my mods (cam, springs, oil pump, pushrods, headers, intake, TB) and put them on the vortec motor and just drop that into my car? Or could I just take the bottom end and bolt my heads onto it with my mods? Let me know if you can. Thank you

Default

if it is a 5.7 vortec, nothing is usable, (other than some bearings?) it is still an old SBC motor

If it was a 5.3 or 6.0 vortec, they are Gen III motors, and all of the parts are interchangable, be careful of compression changes when swapping these parts.
