Default ls2 question

i'm in the midlle of building a off road truck, and am looking for a very relible engine pacage. i was thinking of going with a ls2 and a super charger. but i can't find any info on wether the charger s out right now will fit the ls2 or not. i need to be at least at 650hp, 650 tq or more. i was also thinking of a big stroked c5r block but i'm not sure what heads to run with a super charger. any info would be great. thanks

Buy an LS7 and put a turbo on it. That will get you 650 RWHP.

If you want a really torquey motor (which for off-roading I'm sure you do), why not go with a carbed SBC? Parts are a lot cheaper to buy/replace than any LS-series motors.

650+ rwtq in a LS-series = a lotta $$$
650+ rwtq in small block chevy = a lot less $$$

Are the desired power numbers at the crank, or wheels?

Off-road? Go big block. Or, go with a tall-deck small block (SBC). Brodix or Dart make excellent blocks to start with.

You will have to decide if you'll run race gas, or pump gas. This decision, along with your HP goals, will help determine your required displacement and compression ratio (C/R).

If there's a reason to go with LS2 (i.e. you have one), there are lots of forced induction options. Do a search on this site for specific information.

i have been lookign around and have found a ls1 based engine would be better. the frame on the truck has already been built and a regular small or big block chevy will not fit. i have been searching around and will probley be going with a 454 ci strocked C5R block i just need to find a good set of heads and a good super charger. any idea's money is not an option on this motor but it has to put out at least 650 hp and tq.

Oh, well, **** then. If money is not an issue, and you need an LSx block, then you just answered your own question. C5R with a blower will get you there no problem. May as well use C5R heads with that, but I'm no expert on that one.

An LS2 with a blower will work great! Depending on the boost you want to run, the stock crate motor might have a bit to much compression at
10.9 to 1. We managed to put an intercooled Magnacharger on a LS2, and everything bolted up perfect. It made 560 flywheel hp on our engine dyno with 6lbs of boost. We could take a stock crate motor, order a custom set of pistons from Diamond, get the boost down, and realy throw some boost! Let me know if I can help!!

Here is a pic of what our set up looks like.
